The easiest way to catch and tame cats: Leave delicious food (eg warm bbq chicken or whiskas tinned catfood, meat & fish flavour) and water in a safe, level, stable, safe and discreet location. Use a humane cat trap if un-tame / timid. Google how to use safely (if you can't find a reputable rescue to attend). Monitor from afar. Take care in trap to vet (with a towel over trap) for vet check, microchip scan, neutering, teeth, etc checked / treated. Easiest way to tame a cat (or bigger kitten), is to keep in a dog crate (from petshop, Bunnings or k-mart), with cat bed, litter tray, heavy food & water bowls, in a quiet location. (Eg in a living area, or bathroom, with a plastic sheet under the cage. Viewing other relaxed cats interacting with you, is good). Sheet covering most of the crate. Use a stick / piece of dowell through the cage wire, ideally with a tooth or small natural bristle hairbrush attached, to gently stroke around the shoulders, neck, head, jaw and jowls. Soon they relax, enjoy and purr! Gradually move your hand down the stick, until it's your fingers / hands doing the stroking. Start gently picking up the cat for a few seconds, then longer & longer, until you can cuddle him / her. With enough time, patience, love, safe, quiet surroundings & delicious food, in my 20+ year experience, any kitten / cat cat can be tamed. Big ugly toms become gorgeous, grateful, cuddly lap cats 💕. (Even the hissiest, spiti-est, striking, scary looking, big bush cats!) Best after neutered, vet treated inc teeth, microchipped (temporarily in your name) de-flead, even bathed, etc, while under anaesthetic. Board at vet, or a pet resort, until a responsible, experienced foster or permanent home is found. If you need help with vet / pet resort / boarding costs, say which vet / resort, others might contribute. Thanks for caring 🙏

Please door knock and distribute found posters and leaflets. Request proof of ownership (eg photos of cat and owner together, microchip papers or unique, unobvious distinguishing features). Also ID. For safety reasons ... Call a rescue for a microchip scan. Last resort (as stressful for cat, could escape, end up at pound, or worse), take to vet for microchip scan and health check. If owner located, please explain that most cats need to be locked in for 3+ weeks to bond to a new (or old) home, otherwise sooner or later might try to head back to previous territory and become hopelessly lost ... Also, most cats are escape artists until bonded to new home (eg breaking through mosquito netting and forcing sliding doors / windows open). To be extra vigilant! Thanks for caring 🙏
