Message from Owner

Missing elderly orange tabby. Last seen June 6th. He has a slight head tilt, one sunken eye and a clipped ear which make him easy to recognize. He is very skittish and will likely not approach people, so please do not chase him. If you see him, please let us know right away. We miss him dearly and just want to bring him home safely. Thank you for keeping an eye out.

Shared. Post Lion on Nextdoor as well and check frequently for updates on both websites. Not everyone checks social media, post flyers in the area. Include veterinary offices and pet stores when you post the flyers. Search the neighborhood; do it when it's quieter (the time before it gets dark works pretty well). Search areas where he might be looking for food, water, and shelter (like the dumpster area of a restaurant, for example). Search out of the way places, trees and bushes as well. Search under parked vehicles. Ask neighbors to check their garages, back yards, storage sheds, under porches, etc. Take any open can of car food and a s. Tap the can while calling out to him.

For Lion’s people: Please read the advice shared on the Missing Animal Response Network. They have a page specific to lost cat behavior. https://www.missinganimalresponse.com/lost-cat-behavior/ If you have not already, visit neighboring homes and ask them to look into their garages and outbuildings, checking multiple times while sitting patiently, and quietly. Cats get scared when in strange places and won't necessarily bolt for the door when it is opened, and might not even run to a familiar person if they happen to be present. Also, post flyers - don't rely upon everyone having access to on-line posts. Check every logical and illogical place your cat may have gotten into on your property, to name just a couple: cabinets/drawers — high and low; in garages/bats/sheds. Don’t forget to check in with local vets and animal shelters. Some have had success with placing a humane trap in their backyard - luring kitty in with a serving of their regular food; also with leaving clothing/blankets with your and/or their scent. If you have not already, post to Pawboost and/or Nextdoor. Each has their own audience and can be highly effective. Finally, for any reading this, please keep a bowl of water (ideally freshened every 2-3 days) in your garages/outbuildings for those instances when a neighborhood critter happens to find themselves trapped. Good luck, I hope to read a positive update on Lion soon!
