Open a Found Cat Report with the SPCA via spca.com His photo will then be posted on the SPCA site. If you have a secure carrier, bring him to a vet clinic to see if he has a microchip. There is no fee for this service. If the cat is in good condition, not hungry, and asks to go outside, then try putting a wide elastic around his neck and securely roll a note onto it asking the owner to contact you. Otherwise, try to shelter him till the owner is located.

You're a star. First step is to get to a vet to verify a microchip. Failing that, please please be very careful; don't give to just anyone who says it’s theirs. Get proof and not only photos (can be photoshopped). Get vet proof, verify actual vet, look up number separately, call and verify. And if no owner do not give animals away for free to strangers on Facebook. Dog fighting groups troll for free animals to use as bait and you cannot imagine the agony they die in. They send women to pose as adopters. Please use a rescue.
