CK PETFINDER DAILY IN ABOUT A WEEK OR MORE AFTER MISSING DAY TO SEE IF UP FOR ADOPTION. PLEASE KEEP CKING SHELTERS IN PERSON. NOT JUST CALLING. EVEN IF CHIPPED, CHECK SHELTER ALSO. SOMEONE CHIPPED CAT WAS FOUND AT A SHELTER. THE CHIP DID NOT SHOW UP WHEN SCANNED.

If outdoor cat; It is best to keep cat inside for their safety. Especially black cats. They are stolen the most. CATS ARE STOLEN DAILY all over. It is dangerous for outdoor cats. If outdoors, please get cat FIXED, CHIPPED and A TAG with your PHONE NO. It is not expensive to chip. Alert local shelters and police. If not microchipped, ck shelters in person every day. Not found over phone. Even if chipped, ck shelters. Someone found their chipped cat at shelter. Put up laminated flyers around w pic of pet. Go out late night w flashlight and speak softly outside for a bit until cat feels safe to come out of hiding. Flashlight may catch the cats eyes and light them up. Set up trap w tuna, cats smell and your worn clothing. Post on “Nextdoor” and for “The Love of Louie”. Cats won’t come to you, they depend on you to find them. Scroll thru this site daily. Easier to find if chipped. Someone just found theirs by sleeping outside on their porch w flashlight on their face. They had food w them also. You are the best person to get kitty back. CHECK SHELTERS OFTEN! THEY DON’T KEEP LONG. Ck craigslist daily for any FOUND cats in your area. Put a live trap out by the door, in the garage and leave the garage door open about 6-8" with cat food in it. To trap cat: A rescue bought a rotisserie chicken from Kroger and shredded some with some juice and got it in the first try in a trap. They don’t go far from home because they are scared and come out at night time, when quiet. If you use a trap, monitor frequently & also put a banket in it with your scent. Keep checking this site daily for at least a year.

Take treats, and a flashlight, out with you and call him in the quietest hours of the early morning around 3-4 :30 a.m. when your voice will carry farther. Look in hiding spots and trees, and listen for him. Most indoor cats don't go far when they get outside they get scared and hide during the day and come out at night when it's quiet and dark. They often try to return home during those hours so be watchful for him then. Put something outside your home with your scent or his scent on it to help him find his way home. Put up colored flyers around your neighborhood and businesses then go door-to-door with one and ask your neighbors to check in their sheds and garages to make sure he didn't get accidentally shut in somewhere. Go to shelters IN PERSON as descriptions are not always accurate. Don't give up! Keep calling him! It may take him a while to come out of hiding if he is very scared or has wandered farther away but if he hears your voice it will keep him close by until he eventually gets brave enough to come out of hiding and follow your voice home.
