I am so very sorry to hear this, and I do understand how distressing it must be for you. However most missing cats are so often found near home, and if she's an indoor cat, she'll be very close. She'll be confused and frightened in unfamiliar surroundings, and will probably find the first safe place, as she's sees it, to hide. She may well revert to survival mode, which means that she'll see everything as a potential threat and this will include you, even though she knows your voice, so be patient when searching and calling her name. Just because you don't see or hear anything doesn't necessarily mean she's not there. Cats can stay hidden and silent for several days, sometimes much longer, only venturing out when it's dark in search of food. Best time to search is early morning or dusk as it's quieter. Take a red bulb torch which will reflect her eyes. Rattle a packet of treats and house or car keys which might be familiar to her, and call her name, softly Don't sound anxious as this will spook her, further. Some people suggest pretending to talk into your mobile phone, in your normal voice. Stand still for a few minutes to give her time to respond if there. Keep repeating this pattern. Always have a point of entry for her such as a partially open window or door or wedged cat flap, as many missing cats do find their way home in the early hours of the morning. It's essential you ask neighbours to check and recheck garages, sheds, outbuildings etc in case she's locked inside. Insist you check too, as she will be frightened of strangers and probably won't respond. Ask if they'll leave a door slightly open so she can come out in her own time, if there. Also thoroughly check gardens, under decking and thick shrubbery, between buildings and gaps etc. Cats can crawl into tiny spaces and hide or get stuck. Look up trees and on flat roofs. Check under parked vehicles in case she's injured. If there are any empty buildings or houses for sale or houses with people away, check these out and call through letterboxes. If there is building work nearby or DIY going on, ask foreman or owner to check premises. A cat was rescued from underneath newly laid floorboards. Also, check out places where people come and go such as Village Halls, Scout huts, even churches and schools, as cats have been found locked inside all these places. It's essential you put posters everywhere, and flyers through letterboxes, as not everyone uses social media. Put one in your front window and on garage door or garden gate. Put one in your car and ask friends to do the same. Give one to postie, milk man, bin men, delivery men, paper boy or girl etc one, so they can keep a lookout for her on their rounds. Children are very observant too, so if there are any kiddies near you, ask them to keep a lookout for her, as well. Ask your local school if you can put a poster on their notice board. Hang some of your unwashed clothes on a line outside your house, and something of hers such as a blanket or bed or toy. Smelly socks and insoles are good too.ter contents of your vacuum cleaner outside as familiar smells carry on the wind, and cats have a very keen sense of smell, over several miles. DO NOT leave dirty cat litter tray outside, because it will attract other cats, who'll leave their scent, and deter your cat from coming back home. Alert vets and chip company and any local animal rescue centres in case she's handed in. Exhaust every option and it's essential you keep searching, repeating things again and again. Hopefully, she will have gone to ground, very near, and you don't want to risk her moving further away. When you do find her, move slowly, at ground level, so as not to frighten her. Remember, it's nothing to do with how much she loves you, but it's survival instinct, and she's wary of even you. Don't lunge at her which is often a natural reflex action. This is your one chance to get her, maybe for some time, if she runs off spooked, so don't make mistakes. Wear thick gloves for when you do have a chance to catch her, and hold on tight. Maybe have a towel or cover to hold her with. I'm sorry if this sounds Iike a rant, but all this is from personal experience, helping people find their missing cats. Please never give up searching and believing you'll find her. Your wee girl is out there, somewhere, and needs you, now, more than ever, to guide her safely back home. I'm sending you lots of positive thoughts thoughts prayers for her safe return home, soon 🙏🐱❤️
