If she is indoor only, she is hiding nearby. Cats are territorial and do not run away! The first instinct for an indoor only cat when outside it’s territory is to hunker down and hide. Even if they are friendly they will hide in a new territory as a defense mechanism. So look under bushes, decks, porches and cars with a flashlight even during the day ! She will be hiding with her back to a wall or building. Put out familiar scents, bedding, owners dirty laundry, bedding etc ! Put out some toys too! Wiggle them around snd see if that will entice her to come out of hiding! Do not put out litter box unless safe to do so, if no predators are in the area. She also could be hiding inside if it is a new home. Look in all closets, cupboards, drawers, under and behind furniture and appliances. Look under houses to as near the building as possible! Post on Nextdoor and file a lost report with the shelter! Put fliers around and on nearby neighbors porches asking them to please check their property throughly . Look in garages, sheds, storm drains, up in trees and on roofs too, Call her name softly and shake her treats. Put out really smelly food and see if she will get hungry enough to come out. If not, pick up all outside food and set a humane cat trap to catch her quickly. Cover it with a towel and line the bottom with newspaper. Put her favorite food inside and set it where you can monitor it from a distance. Set it early morning or early evening hours so you don’t catch other animals. You will find your kitty, just don’t stop looking everywhere
