Indoor only cats and limited outdoor access cats never go far. They go into survival mode and hide in silence. Most of them will not respond when they are in survival mode. 3 AM is the best time to find a missing indoor only cat. This is the time they become most active and responsive. Sit and quietly call for your kitty. Try to stay low, standing is intimidating to cats. Place some dirty socks and pillow cases outside. Your scent will attract your kitty. If you have a garage, place the items near the garage door and crack the door enough for your cat to get in. DO NOT leave food or litter box outside. It can attract predators and aggressive Tom cats. Because indoor only cats hide so well, they are not as likely to be ed by a predator. Don't give up. It can take months to find a missing indoor only cat. Use a flashlight as late at night as you can to look in trees, under cars and in bushes. Try to look for the glow of their eyes. The best chance of you being reunited with your cat is to do a methodical search of the area. Most indoor only cats will be within 160 feet of your home. Survival mode last 5 to 14 days but can last longer. Once their hunger gets to a maximum, they snap out of it, but this is a dangerous time because they come out of hiding. The majority of cats will try to make a break for home on the 5th night. Make mini flyers and hand them out to your neighbors. Most people don't pay attention to posted flyers. It's VERY VERY important that you look for your cat as late at night as you can. If you have other cats, watch them. If they are spending a lot of time looking out a certain window, that’s a good indication the missing cat is in that area. Wildlife and motion activated cameras are also helpful. a lot of people are successful trapping their indoor only cats. If you decide to trap, you must watch the trap closely. Predators can a cat in a trap. Recently, a friend hooked up a baby monitor & when her cat was at the front door at 5:30 AM, he heard her on the monitor. Another kitty was recently found hiding in a car engine 7 houses away from where it lived and another one was found hiding under neighbor’s shed and neighbor was able to contact owner after recognizing the cat from posters and flyers she had handed out to the neighbors Post lost and look to see if he was found on Pawboost.com Hope you find her. ❤️

How to find a lost cat. Watch the video, then read the comments below for more helpful hints. https://youtu.be/g2eCoC63B9I Things to do if you've lost a cat: Put out smelly clothing of person cat likes best. Leave garage door or some way back inside open if possible. If you can safely leave a door or window open while you’re home (no other pets), sometimes cats will return on their own. Check under bushes and cars with flashlight early in the morning and at night, the light reflects off the eyes. Also point a laser pointer at the ground by bushes at night. Rattle treat bag or dry kibble at usual feeding time. Kitty is probably close by. Call for kitty at dusk and dawn, and/or usual mealtimes. Spend as much time searching. Have neighbors check garages and sheds. Check all your closets, garage, under beds and furniture, pantry, behind sheds, etc. Make giant neon posters and post at every intersection four way stop going N, S, E, and W. Cross post to other Lost & Found sites. Post on Nextdoor. Check SD Humane, Animal Control, Pawboost, Craigslist (beware of scammers) and other on line pet sites. Use the Neighbors App by Ring or the Citizen app if you have either. Keep looking. Don’t give up and don’t depend on others. Good luck! 🌻
