Also, since they usually do not go far at first, you could put out a Humane Trap near your door-- They sell them at the Farm Stores and I believe, online at Amazon and Chewy. (Have A Heart brand is a good one....)
Sometimes the local Shelters will lend them out to you, so it is worth asking that question too! If you do set out a trap, first cut up a paper plate in fourths, like a pie. Take one of those paper plate sections and put about a Tablespoon of Tuna Fish on it. Slide that paper plate section all the way to the back of the open trap. That way, your Kitty will have to walk ALL the way into the trap to get the Tuna Fish. The door will snap shut behind them and you can then take them back inside your home. Night time is usually the time you will have the best luck, as cats are nocturnal (although, if hungry enough, you might find them back in there later in the daytime, maybe around supper time).
****CHECK THE TRAP FREQUENTLY while set!!!***! -- Don't put it out, if you cannot check on it frequently, because snow/cold weather can drop their body temperatures VERY quickly and they will not survive. So yes, please keep checking it!!
