This is my son's cat, he suffers from mental health issues and this cat means everything to him. We have a neighbor that is taking our community cats and dropping them off in the middle of nowhere 😭

🚨Tell your neighbor this,or show her this Under California law, moving unsocialized community or feral cats more than 200 feet from their original location is generally considered abandonment (Penal Code § 597s), and intentionally harming, killing, or abandoning them is illegal. Key Legal Rules • Relocation Limits: Moving a community cat a short distance (under 200 feet) within the same general area may be allowed for safety or TNR, but relocating them far away or dumping them elsewhere violates California abandonment laws. • The Vacuum Effect: Animal control experts and local guidelines note that removing community cats without managing the environment fails to solve population issues because new cats quickly move in to take their place. • Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR): Many California municipalities officially endorse or rely on TNR programs, where community cats are trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, ear-tipped, and returned to their outdoor home rather than removed or euthanized. • Anti-Cruelty Protections: Causing malicious harm, injury, or death to a community cat carries severe criminal penalties under California Penal Code § 597
