Lost cats are usually not far from home. They are scared and go into survival mode and hide. Sometimes they don’t come out for days, even to eat (especially indoor only cats). Look in the garage, outbuildings, crawl space, under deck, anywhere that they might be accidentally locked in. Let your neighbors know he/she is missing and ask to check their spaces too. Most people don’t necessarily think a cat they see is lost, because so many people have outdoor cats that wander. Put up posters at intersections in the area. Go out late at night, when everything is quiet, and call softly for your cat. If you call loudly or urgently, they will hear the anxiety in your voice and will be even more frightened. Walk slowly and call softly. They may not come to you, but they might follow you home. The last suggestion is how I found my cat that was missing for 5 weeks. Don’t give up. Good luck!
