LOST CAT ADVICE
Tonight when the neighborhood is quiet put their litterbox*, some of your worn clothes, and their favorite food* outside the door the cat went out. Go sit outside that door and softly call them, not frantic calling. Listen for response, they generally don’t go far. When the cat responds try and let them come to you rather than chasing after it. You may have success leaving the door cracked open where the cat can just come in the house on its own.
*If you are in an area that has predators, do not leave the litter box or food out unsupervised as it may attract them.
Create a flyer and post to all neighborhood, city, and lost & found Facebook groups in your area.
Make sure all nearby shelters are notified that he is missing, provide them with a flyer and your contact information. Go in person daily or frequently as possible to check their recent intakes. Shelters are busy and have a lot of staff members and volunteers in and out daily. The telephone staff may not realize he has been brought in.
If the cat is microchipped, double check to ensure the microchip registration is current and on a national data base.
