Not everyone can keep a cat. We fed her and held on to her for a few hours. I asked around no one could take her in. This place is a no shelter and can assess and take care of her better than I can. Feel free to pick her up if you are able to.

However, if the cat appears calm, healthy, and well-groomed, it could just be exploring. **Check for Identification**: Look for a collar or ID tag with contact information. If the cat has one, it’s likely a pet and not lost. **Scan for a Microchip**: If the cat doesn’t have visible ID, you can have it scanned for a microchip at a local vet (emergency vets are open 24/7), pet store, shelter, or one of the shelter’s Microchip Checkpoint Partners across Mecklenburg County (see link below). You can also call 311 to request an officer to come to your home to scan the cat for a microchip.
