Message from Owner

Loving and very sweet, we adopted him 4 months ago and he is still scared over loud noises and fast movement. He loves food and cat toys. Please our family just want him home.

If he's exclusively an indoor cat please remember he won't go very far (at first) and might even be afraid to come to you or meow. If possible in the evening hours keep your patio door a jar as the "normal" household sounds and noises may lures him inside/home. If he's an indoor outdoor cat and hasn't returned, there's a higher likelihood he's trapped in somebody's garage, shed, yard, house for sale, or the likes. Here's my usual tips: crack your garage door open just enough for him to be able to fit under, put his litter box out there, his bedding, some of your unwashed clothing, as those things will help him smell his way back home. Sitting outside late at night by whatever door he either escaped from or is used to coming in and out of is helpful. Sit outside later at night when cats tend to be more active and it's cooler. When you go inside for the evening though periodically check the chair where you were sitting, you may find your cat curled up waiting for you. Your smell/scent can help him to smell his way home. If possible set up a baby monitor in the garage so you can hear him coming into the garage, even in the middle of the night (he'll probably meow). look high and low, day and night, at night use a flashlight because it's the easiest way to catch eye shine. When you're out calling for him, call for him the way you normally would at home. It's all about the tone in your voice. Cats are most active between 10:00 p.m. And 6:00 a.m. that is when you need to be actively out looking for him. check around your property all of your neighbors bordering property; go door-to-door with flyers because your neighbors are your ears and eyes on the ground. just because you've checked an area or a location for him once or twice doesn't mean he won't show up there another time. If you can't leave your garage door cracked open put his litter box by the front door or the back door more than one litter box do both. Same with his bedding and an article of unwashed clothing of yours. If you have a family dog walk it around your neighborhood as cats have been known to follow their canine sibling home. Or if you have another cat that is leash and harness trained, same thing walk it around your neighborhood, but at night. There is the possibility that he's gotten closed in somebody else's garage so It's best to ask your neighbors to check their garage (especially behind the water heater during colder months). There has been a couple of instances we're missing cats have actually been locked vacant homes. When the home is being showed by a real estate agent, or there's an open house, lots of times the garage door is open other doors are open. Cats are sneaky they can easily slip in. If there's a home for sale in the vicinity contact that real estate agent as cats have been found in the house, and the in the garage. Also check shelter intake pages and call every couple of days. Keep in mind that a cat can be taken in say on the east side of the valley and be transferred all the way out to the west side. Go at night with flashlight and treats and carrier. Check with feral feeders in area.
