Kelly Ramirez For the last time, please understand that stray or found dogs are NOT “free” dogs, so it’s not as simple as just keeping it if it isn’t chipped, giving it away, giving it to a friend or neighbor to “foster,” handing it over to a complete stranger on the Internet, REHOMING IT, or taking it in as if it’s your own personal animal to do with what you choose — that is NOT how things work. It’s also AGAINST THE LAW. MOST stray animals are simply other people’s LOST OR STOLEN PETS. They are NOT free dogs for you to try to claim!

This pup needs to go to Oakland Animal Services (1101 29th Ave; (510) 535-560two) ASAP to be scanned for a microchip and a found report placed on file with them; please do so in the morning, as it’s exactly where his ppl will go to look for him, and it’s also the law! If not turning in to OAS after reporting there and if doing the *mandatory stray hold* in your home rather than the shelter, please be sure to require *proof of ownership* from anyone trying to claim — including photos, vet records, and making that person identity a specific marking that only the owner would know about and that’s not visible in this photo. Thanks for caring and handling this responsibly, and that BEGINS WITH REPORTING TO OAS AND SCANNING FOR A CHIP.
