Lost Cats‼️ Indoor only cats and limited outdoor access cats never go far. They go into survival mode and hide in silence. Most of them will not respond when they are in survival mode. 3 AM is the best time to find a missing indoor only cat. This is the time they become most active and responsive. Sit and quietly call for your kitty. Try to stay low, standing is intimidating to cats. Place some dirty socks and pillow cases outside. Your scent will attract your kitty. If you have a garage, place the items near the garage door and crack the door enough for her to get in. DO NOT leave food or litter box outside, it can attract predators and aggressive Tom cats. Because indoor only cats hide so well they are not as likely to be ed by a predator. Don't give up, it can take months to find a missing indoor only cat. Use a flashlight as late at night as you can to look in trees, under cars and in bushes. Try to look for the glow of her eyes. The best chance of you being reunited with your cat is to do a methodical search of the area. Most indoor only cats will be within 160 feet of your home. Survival mode lasts 5 to 14 days but can last longer. Once their hunger gets to a maximum they can snap out of it but this is a dangerous time because they come out of hiding. The majority of cats will try to make a break for home on the 5th night. In addition to posted flyers, make mini flyers and hand them out to your neighbors. Some people don't pay attention to posted flyers. It's VERY VERY important that you look for her as late at night as you can. If you have other cats, watch them. If they are spending a lot of time looking out a certain window, that’s a good indication the missing cat is in that area. Wildlife and motion activated cameras are also helpful. a lot of people are successful trapping their indoor only cats. If you decide to trap, you must watch the trap closely, predators can a cat in a trap.

Do nighttime searches for your cat. With a flashlight and a bag of cat treats, walk the neighborhood where the cat is lost, with the light, look under vehicles, under porches and decks,in bushes,up trees,up poles, on fences,at their base on the ground, in between and behind buildings, near garbage bins, shine light on rooftops,on windowsills, on upper level decks, on fire escapes, use the light to expose the eye shine or reflective glow of the cat's eyes, keep looking for the cat, shake the treat bag, and Calmly call the cat's name, please repeat these actions throughout the block, then neighborhood where the cat is lost every night after sunset then again late night to right before dawn 11 pm-4 am Search your property ; look in crawl spaces, in your shed, under the deck, under the house, under the porch. Post on Nextdoor and Neighbors app File a Lost report with the local animal shelter and check the shelter a couple of times a week. Ask neighbors to check their garages, sheds, and bats, sometimes they get trapped in them. get their permission to look under their porches and decks, and yards, under and behind their sheds and houses. Ask neighbors to look on their surveillance, security, and doorbell camera's video for your cat. Give flyers to neighbors, postal workers/ mail carriers, delivery people, dog walkers, joggers, daily walkers.

I’m so sorry your sweet kitty is missing. Have you already put out something with your scent like a dirty shirt or blanket that you use? Cats have stronger noses than dogs so it may help her find her way home. If she an indoor kitty she will be close to home hunkered down. She will find the smallest space to fit in if she’s scared. Get her favorite food and call her. She might not come out the first night out of fear. Try again the next day. It took one of my cats 3 days to come out of his hiding place. He could hear me but was too scared to move or meow. Please clink on this link she has helped find hundreds of missing cats bot indoor only abd indoor/outdoor at: www.happycatlady.com Also notify your city pound every day in case they have her or received a call. Knock on neighbors doors in case they’ve seen her including the other side of the block if it’s possible she went into another backyard with street access. Keep calling her at all hours especially the odd hours at night and early morning when it’s quiet. She might not be far away, just too scared to move if something’s spooked her. Cats are excellent at hiding in small spaces. Check with neighbors and post flyers in case someone has brought her inside. Also if you haven’t already post on Nextdoor I’ve noticed there are really nice neighbors who help in out looking for your kitty. It’s recommended to use a camera/ring motion sensor thing to capture the cat eating with a trap, but only when you can watch the camera due to predators . I had two cats (different cats different decades) get out & both times they were super close to home just a few feet away, but scared stiff and chose to hunker down even though they could hear me. So keep looking & maybe knock in a couple doors in case kitty’s trapped. They do love to explore and sometimes that ends up with them being lost or trapped. Also check the surrounding buildings including their attics. Talk to the maintenance men. A while back someone found their cat after several weeks bcs kitty was in an attic of another building & the maintenance man found the cat. You can post on Nextdoor I’ve noticed there are a lot of nice neighbors who are willing to help with find lost cats. I hope she waltz’s in like nothings wrong.
