*TIPS TO HELP: GET SIGNS UP ASAP!!! DO NOT WAIT PUSH IN TIPS THE GROUND CORRUGATED SIGNS ARE VITAL FOR SIGHTINGS... DO THIS WITHIN THE FIRST 24 TO 48 HOURS. CORRUGATED PLACTIC SIGNS WITH THE “H” STAND: available at Lowe’s, Home Depot and if you need more of a quantity buy online through Amazon. Buy the larger sizes 24 x36 or 32x48. Do not wait it out or depend just on flyers & social media. Larger the better, bright signs get attention. Signs vs flyers - signs can make a huge difference in whether your dog is recognized as missing and your being contacted sooner. Place signs at all intersections, up & down streets, entrances to subdivisions in the area where the dog was last seen or lost from. *INCLUDE ON ALL FLYERS, SIGNS/POSTERS: *LOST DOG across the top *CONTACT INFORMATION at the bottom, 2 phone numbers are best. *LOCATION LOST FROM OR LAST SEEN IN *DESCRIPTION, SKITTISH/DO NOT CHASE OR CALL OUT TO, MICROCHIPPED *PICTURE encased in a plastic report cover or large zip lock bag, use waterproof tape to seal and attach to signs/posters. (when attaching put the turn the cover upside down/at the bottom before taping). Walgreens can make a stack of pictures that have a stiffer paper that is coated. *Call/Facebook pm/email all vets and shelters in your area.... include as much information as possible when contacting them. *If the dog is microchipped contact the microchip company and let them know the dog is lost. When found let them know. *If a finder contacts you ask them to stay in the area if unable to get the dog to come to them. Ask them to SIT DOWN, watch the dog quietly until you arrive. If the dog is scared, skittish and will not go to people easily or come to you because the dog is in the fright/flight mode you may need the help of a local dog/pet trapper to bring the dog home. If the dog is an escape artist recommend a Fi GPS Tracking collar, series 3 or 3+. AirTags are very unreliable and not recommended by Apple for use on pets. (Written by C. please post to the Ring & Next door apps. it can be very helpful in reunited pets with their owners. Also be sure to go in person to all animal shetlers because they don't always list all the new intake of animals on their web pages. I'm praying for the safe return of your furbaby. Good Luck in your search.🙏🐾🐕🐾🙏

Nextdoor Experiment - Hashtagging Lost & Found Animal Posts With the number of dogs and cats that are being lost and found, it's almost impossible to match up the found ones with the lost ones' owners. As an experiment, let's try a hashtag system. The Nextdoor search system at the top of the home screen recognizes hashtags and will search for them successfully. So, if you post a lost dog, please put #LostDog at the beginning or end of your post. If you post a lost cat, put #LostCat. If you find a dog or a cat, put #FoundDog or #FoundCat. To search for hashtags in the Nextdoor Search bar, just type in the appropriate hashtag and tap the search icon or the return key on your keyboard. Once the search is completed, tap the "Posts" tab at the top of the screen. This will filter the results to show only Posts. Then scroll through the list. If you've lost an animal, search for #FoundDog or #FoundCat If you've found an animal, search for #LostDog or #LostCat Also, if you posted a lost pet and was later reunited with them, please either delete the original post or edit the post and place the hashtag #reunited at the very top of the post's content (at the very beginning of the post). To edit a post or comment, tap on the three dots in the upper right and select 'Edit' from the pop-up menu. Not everyone will read this post, so those of you who do, please spread the word and let's make this work. Hope this helps!
