Description

Dark brown tabby with very long, fluffy fur

Message from Owner

Louie looks a little wild because of his dark face and fluffy body. He is not well-socialized to people, except I am able to groom him, which is very important because his fur mats quickly. He likes crunchy treats. He left on a warm sunny weekend and I think he wandered too far to find his way . He lives with many other cats in a well-cared for colony at our .

Rent or borrow a humane trap. The SPCA should be able to help. Place the trap near where the cat escaped. Put some of the cat's favorite food and treats inside of the trap along with an article of your clothing with your scent on it. This method has worked for me on two different occasions. If you trap the wrong cat or some other animal, put a blanket over the trap leaving the door exposed. Stand behind the trap and release the animal. Reset the trap. Good luck and God bless.

Go outside especially at dusk and call him and jiggle a cat food bag or treats bag. Call him like you would call him inside your home. Look under bushes and shrubs and under vehicles too or anywhere a cat might hide. Post his pic at local veterinary clinics and grocery stores. Keep calling him frequently throughout the day, evening, and early morning hours. He may have climbed up a tree too and doesn't know how to get down. 🙏

LOST PET TIPS Things to do ASAP if you have lost your pet: • BEWARE OF SCAMS! Do not send money or google codes. Report or block scam phone numbers. • Place scent items & a food station near escape point. • Instruct everyone to not call out to or chase. • File Reports with Police, shelters that cover your area • If microchipped - report to chip company that your pet is lost & verify your information is up-to-date • If you have an electric fence - turn it off • If lost from a fenced yard - secure other pets & open gate • Spread the word: use social media, lostmydoggie, nextdoor, pawboost • Create a simple flyer • Notify neighbors, ask them to check cameras, sheds, garages • Check Shelters in person • Record all sightings in a notebook - date, time, location, direction of travel. The above information are things to do right away for a lost pet, there are more details and additional tips on our website: FindTobyInPA.org/lost-pet

Sabine Caldwell I wouldn’t give up, if you have other farms in the area try dropping of a flyer. Ask them to check sheds or buildings. Things that have recently been opened due to nice weather and then closed up again.

Timothy Parker thank you for the wonderful tips. Louie is part of an indoor/outdoor colony of over 2 doz cats, surrounded by farm country, but located at our home. “Neighborhood” is small manufacturing and Amish families. I didn’t think about “survival mode,” that’s a good point. Both missing cats can come and go freely into our home (and have done 2-day disappearing acts before). I just really thought they would come home and now it may be too late.

🐾Place some dirty laundry outsid to e, go out shake it I treats, crack a can of catfood and tap it. Look at night with flashlight because their eyes glow. Check in sheds and under porches, decks ect. Talk to neighbors too, make sure they check their shelters . Might have to set a hav a heart trap if he's that skittish. 🔴VERY IMPORTANT!! DO NOT Set a trap in extreme temperatures if trap cannot be constantly monitored and watched. Animals can die quickly left in traps in cold and hot conditions. 🔴Might only come out at night. Sometimes if you leave part of your garage open they will sneak back in. Not sure if that's possible or if you have other animals. I've heard where the cat jumps back in a window. Flyers are VERY important too, someone may have taken him in or seen him. Not everyone is on Facebook-Let your post office delivery person know too in case they hear of someone or see him on the local route- check with neighbors, someone may have brought him in. It's a good idea to hang a sign from your mailbox "LOST CaT" in case they are looking for an owner. You can buy a cheap tasco game camera at wal mart with an SD card and set it up to see if you catch him near by. It surprisingly takes good pictures and is easy to set up- definitely do the dirty laundry and definitely do the tapping of the cat food can. These things really do help🐾🐾🐾don't lose hope. I've had strays remain elusive for over a year before they learn to trust again. They go into survival mode. Be vigilant about flyers, ask neighbors. Sometimes the cat is hanging out at a neighbors close by ***also check with pAw bo0st neXt do0r and find toBy
