If someone sees the lost dog don't chase it. Sit on the ground and talk quietly. Call the number on the post to notify them. Let the dog come to you. If you chase it, it may be afraid or think you're playing and run. If you're searching for it, take treats or wet dog food if you can to throw when you're close enough. Also take a leash.
