LOST 5/21/26 disappeared during daytime Microchipped, left tipped ear Breed: Maine Coon I believe he was taken intentionally or not (hid inside an engine or car) We have had lots of construction on property and recently moved. This day was more construction traffic than usual. We had moved within the last three months, so he still was not settled into the area and could have gotten turned around. I have been checking our old barn (within 5 miles of where we are now) to see if he found his way back there, but he hasn't I know its been a while since he has gone missing, but I still believe someone has him. I was told by Kim at Maury Co animal center that no shelter would let him through the doors or scan him because he has a tipped ear. So his microchip would only be scanned by a an informed citizen who would take hime to a scanner. This is heart breaking to me because most people wouldn't know to do this. If someone finds him, they'd be told to leave him where he was found, but that could be far from home if he was taken or turned around from the new surroundings. Location: Algie Sewell Rd. Cross streets: Chestnut Ridge and 247, Cave Springs and Leipers Creek If seen or found please call:

OWNER - I find it hard to believe that is what she told you! Every shelter is different but I can tell you that both MCAS and WCAC have very much scanned cats with tipped ears, for a microchip PLUS both those shelters have chip scanners outside main doors for the public to use anytime - 24/7. In fact, WCAC have posted a few strays this year on their FB page, with tipped ears but didn't have chips OR the chip was not registered. You live in an area with an awful lot of coyotes, bobcats etc so my guess, that's what happened to your beloved kitty - which is the same fate MOST cats in the area meet. As someone whose been through similar, you hope for the best but plan for the worst. All 3 of these FB groups have missing cats that go back 10+ years. FOUND animals posted are only left up the 10 days as required by state law. MISSING animals stay up indefinitely, unless the owner posts they came home (or were found deceased): Maury County Lost/ Found Animals Spring Hill, Tennessee - Lost & Found Pets Franklin, TN - Pets Lost and Found (and surrounding towns) Both local shelters monitor this groups. But I think you misunderstood what MCAS told you - their goal is to reunite animals and they will scan any dog/cat that is found & brought in by someone (if those people don't use the scanner outside). Also, any vet office will scan for a microchip for free, if a good Samaritan walks in with a found animal - so it is more like HOPING that if since finds, that they have the common sense to take it in.
