If you didn't see her run out, check every nook and cranny. Check under dressers, under beds and if she can get into the box spring she could be in there. They find some pretty small places to hide.

Since she's a new kitty, are you sure she's not hiding inside somewhere? Did someone actually see her run out? Cats can hide in places you wouldn't think they would fit.
