Pico is so gorgeous. Please try all these suggestions. Even if only for a week. I have 4 cats and I know how you feel. If you start as soon as he goes missing, you will probably find him. Unless he was taken by someone or by coyotes. Your cat needs to Hear Your Voice!! Besides posting on social media, best thing you can do is walk around your yard/neighborhood several times everyday calling your kitty’s name. Make flyers with his/her photo and your contact info and leave these on many neighbors doorsteps. Distribute them at least 10 houses away in all directions. Further is even better. Ask neighbors to check their crawlspaces and sheds. Start immediately because there are coyotes all over NC. ALWAYS leave your garage door cracked open about 6 inches day & night, for him/her to come inside and feel safe. Put dry food and water in there. Only during the day, leave a window open that he can reach and just open wide enough for him to crawl through. This has worked for some people. Cats usually don’t wander very far, not more than 5 or 6 houses away, but may go further. Even travel a mile if disoriented. They hide under bushes or anywhere that he would feel safe. They could still be close by but not able to find their way home. That’s why your whole neighborhood area needs to know - Distributing flyers to doorsteps is the quickest way to inform them about your missing cat. Walk all around calling their name a few times each day. Check storm drains, they can get stuck in them. They go in at one end, crawl through the pipe and end up at a place where they can’t get out because of the heavy iron grate on top. I can’t emphasize enough that your cat needs to Hear Your Voice. He/she will be HIDING during daylight hours. Go outside anytime it’s dark, also around dawn and dusk. Cats are less afraid to come out of hiding when it’s dark. Put their used litter box outside (only during the day due to coyotes everywhere). Also leave your unwashed clothing outside in your yard, dirty socks or anything you’ve just worn. Cats have amazing sense of smell and can smell your familiar scent which helps them find their home. Post your lost kitty on Nextdoor, the neighborhood app., for your neighbors not on Facebook. Post your cat on Pawboost, it reaches thousands of people who care about pets. And talk to the neighbors and/or distribute flyers with a photo and contact information to neighbors. You have a good chance of finding your cat if you start walking your neighborhood ASAP since cats don’t wander far and they can hide a long time. Prayers for a safe return.🙏🙏💕🐈🐈‍⬛💕🧸
