MESSAGE FROM OWNER

Hello. I was told to post here because I accidentally locked my sons cat out on our balcony. I did this once before stayed there all night long. I'm sure the crazy winds scared her and that's why she left. We live in the 2nd floor but the parking lot has an incline enough at our balcony that I can unload our groceries to it. It would be easy for her to get to the ground. She is very skittish! She is also chipped. We got her from the South Platt Humane Society. My boy is very sad. We've gone out looking and calling. I have her litter box and food on the balcony. We are praying she comes home.

DESCRIPTION

Black with 3 white hairs on her chest. Green/yellow eyes.

I do not have any cameras on my balcony. Sadly I'm not I a good financial state right now. I lost me job due to medical reasons and I am on long-term disability through thay job. I will still check out what you suggested. Where we live has TONS of traffic for the better part of the day. We live near the main entrance of Swedish Hospital. It's SO busy and SO loud! I did go out this morning in the opposite direction I look yesterday. She has such a tiny meow, I'm not sure I could hear her. I'll need to go out around 10-11.

Create a scent station (items with your/your cat’s smell - unwashed bedding, clothing, cat tower, etc. Do NOT put out litter pan as feces often used to mark territory and may inadvertently attract predators or territorial cats.). Check it often, especially when things are quiet (late evening/early morning). Leave the garage door open 5” overnight. Check nearby Ring/security cameras in the area. Check in and under everything inside and outside with a flashlight. Cats don’t usually go far and freeze in a tight ball in very small areas when scared. The flashlight catches their eyes’ stare, especially at night. Thoroughly check inside your home, especially if this is a new/shy/scared pet. Post on NextDoor app as it covers your local neighborhoods. Be sure to check your local animal shelter in person at least every other day (can’t stress enough - in person!!! You know your pet best plus animals constantly brought in). If your cat is not spayed/neutered, may be why it is “lost” and traveling further. Hope your pet is home safe and soon. https://www.pawboost.com/blog/7-effective-search-tips-for-finding-your-lost-cat/

Gela Pearson Gela Pearson I do recovery specifically focused on cats. You do not set a humane trap until you have a confirmed sighting on camera. Do you have a real time motion notification camera set up overlooking the parking lot and feeding station on your balcony? If not get one ASAP. WYZE is my preferred. Cats often come by at night unbeknownst to their sleeping owners. Keep your balcony door cracked at night enough for kitty to get in on her own terms being she is skittish. The camera set up will not just monitor for sightings but will also wake you to monitor and close door if she comes in. In the mean time you also need to get posters up ASAP to continue generating sighting leads. Please share additional FULL BODY pictures of her here with your preferred contact number and I’ll make you an EFFECTIVE one. When and if we get a sighting of her on camera I’ll bring equipment over to humane trap (if needed) Call me for help 720-549-4092 I don’t charge because I know how crappy the not knowing feels. 🫶

How do I go about doing a live trap? I have no clue how to get her home because she is SO SKITTISH! I don't think she'd even come if she saw me. I'd like to accept your offer to help.

I will take your advice and put out fliers on bright paper. One or our little boxes, food and water is on our balcony. It's easily accessible. I will put out tuna too. I used to give it to my cats but my ither cat would eat to fast and throw it up, so I stopped. I will look in the morning and later in the evening than I did tonight. A friend help me and my kiddo. Thank you so much! This is good information! You are appreciated 💛
