Gloria Hernandez did you call the Humane Society or Animal Control? This dog needs help. If you can’t find the dog at least report the address where it was hanging out as it could possibly live there, and the owners may even be keeping it in and away from people to see it in that condition if they are guilty of cruelty.

As of 6:28pm: just dropped her off at the La Mesa 24 hour pet emergency shelter! She will be assessed by their vet and kept overnight. Tomorrow the humane society will come get her! I will be calling them tomorrow to get an update. She probably won’t be available to adopt until she gains weight. She is such a well mannered dog!

Geoffrey Levine Hi Geoffrey, Please do advise how you would have liked me to handle the situation. For context (since I know details can be hard): I had two small children in the car, a timid dog who was obviously uncomfortable around strangers (including myself and said children), and about a ten-minute window before school drop-off and then a commute downtown after being out sick with COVID for ten days. In that time, I managed to give the dog food to keep it nearby, contact the Humane Society, Babs Fry, local rescues, and post on multiple social platforms—all while, shockingly, not having the luxury of dedicating my entire day to Geoffrey’s Preferred Dog Rescue Protocol™. But since you clearly have a more enlightened approach, I’ll eagerly await your step-by-step breakdown on how I should have handled it “better.” Especially seeing as the second I got off work, I went back, found her, and got her safely on her way to the shelter. I’ll anxiously await your pearls of wisdom—please, don’t leave me hanging
