Cathy Valar I believe that the smoke detector was going off and the pup got out in the chaos through an open door. I saw her original post on Nextdoor. Also, don’t judge. You have no idea what is going on in people’s lives and you obviously don’t have the whole story. Just keep scrolling if you don’t have anything helpful to contribute.

Tiny puppies don’t sneak off. Why was it left outside to begin with? Coyotes roam looking for easy prey and probably got a snack from you. Irresponsible!

Sadly pet theft is in the rise and small pets are at greater risk. Not sure why a puppy, who is drinking formula, was outside by themselves during this awful weather. My guess it they didn’t wander off but were probably picked up by someone. Check the shelter in person and talk to your neighbors. When you get your puppy back, they need to be kept indoors and not left unattended. Pet theft is a big problem here.
