Description

This cat has been roaming around our backyard on 7/28. We saw him/her after getting home from work. By the time we were able to capture the cat. All the local shelters were closed. We first called Mohawk Humane Society because we trust them and we have 3 cats of our own from them. Their after hours voice message said to please call local shelter or animal control. We called animal control In Guilderland. They do not have a direct contact number for the public. The number on the website is the non-emergency Guilderland police number. The dispatcher first just said he will let animal control know and asked for our address. We waited 30 mins or so and called the number back to see if animal control was able to come. And we were told this particular animal control officer decided not to come out for the cat. The police cannot force him to come out either. There was a super nice girl who direct messaged me on here said she would contact other shelters to see. Unfortunately, she messaged me back said no one had room. In the meantime, we saw a comment that said take the cat to an emergency vet and surrender it. So we called the emergency vet place we knew which was capital district veterinary referral hosp in Latham. They told us over the phone, we can definitely bring the cat in and they will access, if the cat is deemed injured and needing medical attention they will keep the cat, otherwise we will need to keep the cat for the night and look for a shelter the next day. The cat had blood on its paw. So we brought the cat in, and filled out the paperwork. The girls at the front desk said once we surrender the cat, they will not be able to provide any updates. They took the cat for an assessment and immediately told us they will admit the cat. So we left. We called the next day on 7/29 hoping maybe it would be a different person working there, we just asked if they cat made it. And she said unfortunately due to their hosp policy they cannot provide any updates or details.

Message from Finder

Not sure if this is someone’s cat. It has been roaming around my yard. I tired to give it some food and it didn’t run away. I feel like that could be someone’s pet.

My God please just rescue this Kitty and bring them in your bathroom or bring them straight to a veterinarian for their care which he needs immediately. He is very likely extremely dehydrated and starving. I cannot imagine anyone taking a photo and driving away. You put him in your car and you bring them to a vet or you bring them home and put them in your bathroom temporarily until you can find someone to help you. Please go back and get this Kitty and it will mean saving his life and I'm talking you don't even have another day to do this

I believe someone has poisoned cats on Euclid and Guilderland in Schenectady. Protect your herd! Be vigilant I don’t know what’s going on but it’s not good
