Put all her/his smellables (food, litter box, toys, blankets, etc.) as well as some worn clothing of yours outside. They often don’t go far and hunker down during the day and explore at night. Smellables can help them find their way. Also, leave some windows or screen doors cracked at night so s/he can hear you and you might be able to hear her/him if she comes knocking.
