Message from the owner: 📍Removing lost pet flyers is considered an act intended to obstruct the owner from reclaiming their property and may be used as evidence of intent. 📍Knowingly keeping, hiding, or refusing to return a dog when you are aware the owner is actively searching constitutes theft of property under § 13-1802. #felonytheft #stolenproperty

Teddy the Pitbull is still lost! ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Under Arizona law, theft of a pet is a crime. 📍If you find a dog, you are required by law to make reasonable efforts to find the owner. 📍You are required to report the dog to County within 5–6 days. 📍Reasonable efforts include posting online notices, contacting local animal control or shelters, and checking for ID tags or microchips. Arizona Revised Statutes § 13-1802 (Theft) makes it unlawful to knowingly control another person’s property with the intent to deprive them of it. Pets are legally considered property, and withholding or keeping a found dog can constitute theft, including #felony theft depending on the circumstances and value. Arizona Revised Statutes § 13-2307 (Trafficking in Stolen Property) may also apply if there is any attempt to sell, transfer, or conceal the animal.
