Jacob Barragan also just FYI if you look up callers with name and phone number stitched on the back they're only about 10 bucks and the phone numbers really clear and easy to read if your dog gets out again. The buckles are breakaway so not strong enough for the main color if you're walking a dog that pulls a lot but they're super cheap and make it much easier for people to get a hold of owners.

Lex Harrison Thank you for all the advice. Thankfully, she has already been found and is safely home with us. It was about 3 AM when she got out, so at the time our priority was simply getting her information out as quickly as possible and reaching anyone who might have seen her. I appreciate the information and will keep it in mind for the future. Thankfully, we got her back.

Imagine if someone found $3,000 to $5,000 cash laying in the street. It takes a very special person with integrity to return it. The goal is to make returning your dog the better, faster, easiest option for someone who doesn’t care. If they decide to keep them, you have about a 48-hour window to get that reward in their face and pray that they need the cash more than they want the dog. You are not trying to train a dishonest person and make them a good person. Not trying to force a low integrity person to “do the right thing.” You will lose your pet permanently if you think that works. You have to give them a reason to return your pets by speaking THEIR LANGUAGE greed/ quick $ FINDERS/ KEEPERS/ THIEVES - Motivated by self-interest. Greed. Want to keep it. Don’t care who it hurts. Don’t care if the dog wants to go home. Believe they “rescued” it. They think~ What’s the pet worth to me? What’s in it for me?” What’s the easiest way for me to turn it into cash? They aren’t looking at your dog through your eyes, but rather in terms of what the dog can do for THEM. Emotional pleas & Flyers WITHOUT A REWARD don't work on finders/keepers / thieves. They steal your pet, drive right on by your flyers and sleep well at night. You cannot move them with an emotional plea about how important your dog is to you, how much you miss your pet, how much you're freaking out. They do not care. People that steal other people's dogs are not on Lost Pet groups looking for the owner. They are on regular groups for the city, and on next door and neighbors by ring. And they would see Flyers if they are posted up in the area. But without a reward they are not likely to respond. For this reason do not focus posting in Lost Pet groups. That is not your target market.
