Put their bed and your dirty clothes on the porch Walk/drive around the neighborhood slowly holding the leash, squeaking a toy, shaking food and calling their name Stand outside and call them for 10-15 minutes at a time Post on pawboost, Nextdoor, ring, and petco lost love Contact the microchip company and report them as lost. Make sure your contact info is up to date Report them as lost to your city shelter Tell your neighbors and mail carrier. Knock on doors, ask if they have cameras. Make clear, simple signs with an easily visible picture of what your pet most recently looked like. Try to just have your pet. Say there is a reward (you don’t have to specify an amount and any amount would count.) Post around neighborhood and at local vets and pet stores. Place them in clear plastic sleeve protectors (upside down and taped) if outside. You can back them with neon paper also. Put a sign in your yard. Check area shelters, Craigslist and any “rehoming” sites or groups DAILY. Leave your garage door open a tiny bit and your gate open a bit as well if you don’t have a pool, other pets (or kids) that could get out. Join and share to as many local lost & found groups as you can, including any specific breed ones. Then look through the groups. Ask neighbors, friends, and family to share also. Alert microchip company and/or your vet. Make sure contact information is up-to -date with both. Post on nextdoor and Ring for area he went missing in. Put an item of your worn clothing in a safe spot near where he went missing. Hopefully, he will pick up scent and follow it and keep him there in the area waiting. Make/print flyers and put them up. Knock on neighborhood doors in that area give ing them flyers. Check area shelters there IN PERSON and OFTEN. Give flyer, too. Ask to see new intakes and holds, as well.
