Is someone saying they have your dog? In your original post, it sounds like someone is claiming that. Scammers will do that and ask for money. Please report to police if this is the case. These people likely do not have your dog

Go outside and look under porches, decks, bushes and cars. Check window wells. At night use a flashlight. The eyes will reflect the light. Put out food and water and familiar scented clothing or blanket. Alert your neighbors, local police, vet clinics, shelters and mail person. Put up signs at main traffic intersections and businesses with high traffic. Hand out fliers to neighbors. Post on Nextdoor and any other neighborhood pages.
