Go out around 2AM with smelly food or treats and call softly for her. Have neighbors check sheds and garages. Post lots of signs. Also a good idea to stick notes through your neighbour’s door or mailbox for them to check their properties.

- [ ] The kitty is probably hiding close to home and scared. Call the kitty’s name softly morning noon and night. Late at night. Rattle a treats bag. Put out toys and food and water. Rig up a cat shelter - place articles of clothing and blankets that smell like home in the shelter. Posters work. Make posters and put them up everywhere with your phone number visibly on the poster. Ask for sightings. Don’t give up.

Shared. If you have not yet done all these things do so ASAP, if you have do them again and go further in your search. Notify Toronto Animal Services and check their website for found cats. Carefully check around your home and property, focusing on small, hidden spots like closets, dresser drawers and hidden nooks and crannies, as cats often hide nearby when scared. Search all nearby shrubs, bushes and trees, window wells, garages and sheds. Ask nearby neighbours to do the same. Alert local vet offices, rescues and shelters. Cats will usually stay near the door they left for a day or two before searching for food. Leave his used litter and some food and water in hidden places near the door he left NOW and check tonight. Note that intact male cats can travel long distances in search of females in heat and have trouble finding their way home. Advise local feral cat feeders who may spot him searching for food. See Pawboost for more ways to find and sample posters. Put a notice in nearby neighbours mailboxes, post on local notices boards, in community centres, churches and schools. Go out after dark bring food and treats, search a 5+ block radius, stop periodically and softly call but do not make any loud noises or sudden moves. Lost cats are terrified and do not recognize their owner as safe.
