File a lost report online w KCPP. Scroll down https://kcpetproject.org/services/lost-found-pets/found-pets-list/ Put a public post on your FB page so ppl can easily share. Put outside an article of your clothing w your scent on it & his/her used litterbox. Put catnip in your yard & make a trail to your door/litterbox/humane trap. If you have a garage, leave the door open a few feet w smelly food/water inside. You may want to try using a humane trap but only if it can be checked very frequently. Check w your local shelters/rescues to see if they have one you can borrow. Spay Neuter Kansas City loans out traps. If you use one, cover all sides except the opening w a towel or blanket. Put smelly food & sardines + water in the back of the trap. You can also put a piece of cardboard on the bottom inside the trap to make it easier to walk on if it's a wire bottom & put a towel on top of the cardboard for a more comfy place to lay once caught. Make sure any microchip info is updated in the system & put in a missing alert. Not everyone is on social media, so distribute flyers to houses on yours & surrounding blocks, your mail person, post in parks, grocery stores, local vets & put a sign in your yard & car window. Go to the shelters/animal control every couple of days, don't just call. Also ask to see any cats not on display to the general public. Be sure to file a lost report with them & give them a flyer. Use brightly colored poster board for signs & cover w plastic. Cats usually are found nearby. Look everywhere, they can hide in the darndest places, neighbor's garage, tool shed, under bushes, porches, decks, etc. They get scared & hunker down so they may not come to your call. They go into survival mode. Has anyone moved lately - they can get in moving vans. Check around early morning & later at night with a flashlight, which will make their eyes glow. They come out when it's quiet. Also post on NextDoor & Pawboost. Be sure to check inside your house to make sure kitty is not in there. They've been known to get shut in drawers, closets, cabinets, etc. Turn everything off so it's quiet & listen for a soft meow when you call their name. Hope your kitty is found soon!
