Check in bushes and under cars near your home, and check on the next street over, especially in the evening with a flashlight, calling out to her and making a familiar sound. And ask neighbors if she may be trapped in their garage or shed. I hope she is found soon🙏🏻

Most indoor only cats and limited outdoor access cats are found within 2.5 houses of the house they escaped from. Indoor only cats will be hiding out during the day and typically come out at night when it's dark and quiet as they feel more safe. The best thing to do is to talk to your neighbors during the day to see if they have seen your cat. Do not rely on social media. The best way to find your cat is on foot by talking to people during the day and looking outside very LATE at night. See if your neighbors can leave their garages and sheds open for a few hours. Your cat may not come out right away once the doors are opened. This is because when cats are in survival mode, they typically do not act normal. You can also print mini flyers and attach them to your neighbors' doors if they are not home. You can use painter's tape so that it is easy for the homeowner to remove. Post on Nextdoor & Ring App. It alerts neighbors in a 2-3 mile radius. Please make sure that your cat has a way to get back into your house 24/7. You want to leave open a garage door (including the door that goes from the garage to the house) sliding glass door, or window that they exited from as well as some of your recently worn clothing outside of the entry way. ***Do NOT put your cat's litter box outside as it can attract predators.*** It's VERY important that you look for your cat late at night. Between 11pm to 5am are ideal times to find a missing indoor only cat. 3 AM is the best time to find a cat as this is the time they become most active and responsive. Shake a bag of their favorite treats while CALMLY talking (in a normal voice) to your cat. Make sure that you pause after calling to see if you can hear your cat meowing. Indoor only cats are very frightened outdoors and will only come out when they feel safe. You may have to trap your cat as they will be in survival mode (sometimes they start acting a bit feral) and will not act the same way that they do in the house. Go around late at night calling them with food and flashlight to catch their eyes. Check around your neighborhood under houses and in small places where they may hide. Put stuff out that has yours and their scent on it. Hang flyers around for people to see. Check shelters and vets daily. Update chip info if they have a chip and its has not been update since a move. Ask neighbors to check in their garages incase they ended up trapped in one. I pray you get your baby back safe and soon.

Time is of the essence. Cats don’t go far from home. Don’t wait for social media to bring your cat home, you need to be proactive. Leave the door/window the kitty exited from open 24/7. If unable, then crack garage door open 24/7 enough to get in. Hang worn clothes and/or your pillow case in a tree or on top of shrubs to create a scent trail. Knock on neighbors doors with a picture asking them to keep an eye out. See if they can check Ring cameras for any sighting. Post signs with kitty’s picture as many as possible, include surrounding neighborhoods. Go out late at night with a flashlight, shaking a bag of food, calling kitty’s name, looking under shrubs for their shining eyes. Post on Ring, Nextdoor and check shelters. Don’t give up. 💕

General Information: Set up a scent station. Hang clothes with your scent on it (Worn clothing from owner) high up outside so the familiar scent can travel and guide the cat back home. NO LITTER BOX OR FOOD. Ask your neighbors to check their yard/could be accidently stuck in their garage or shed. (If applicable) Check doorbell or home camera - or ask neighbors to check their camera. Post Fliers with a picture of the cat and your contact information in the area the cat went missing. Not everyone is on Social Media and posters have worked in that if spotted a location can be provided. If a cat is scared they make themselves safe by finding a good hiding spot and often times hide in silence. Look in bushes - bring a flashlight and look for shining eyes. Best time to find your cat is in the early morning hours when the noise level is low and they feel safe. Leave an access point open for the cat to return. This is important if they do come back in the middle of the night. Prayers your cat returns/ or is found safely. Beware of scammers.

So sorry your kitty is missing 😰 You must actively look for your kitty. Please go out late at night or very early in the morning when there are very few cars and people out. Sit on your front or back stairs, wherever she’s more familiar and talk in a normal conversation voice, think low cell phone conversation. Do this for at least an hour if not longer, morning and night until found. If she likes treats and knows the sound of a treat bag do that also or any sound that she gets excited about. If she’s scared and hiding, this may be the encouragement needed to come out. Cats can hide for days. Also go to catsinthebag.org for many other helpful tips on how to find her. Good luck.
