Print a flyer with a detailed description, a picture of your pet, and your contact number. Go door to door and ask your neighbors if they've seen him/her, give them a flyer, and ask if they can check under their decks and sheds and review their security camera footage. ✅ Some people post on Ring if they see an animal hanging out on their property. ✅ Call for your pet when your neighborhood is fairly quiet--at night or early morning and listen carefully for a response. ✅ For Lost Cats: Check in street gutters--call into them and listen for a response. Two different cats from my past hid and got stuck in such drainage areas--maybe escaping something that chased them. I was able to get mine back. In one case, I went calling for her early on a quiet morning and heard her crying from the gutter. In the other case, a neighbor's dog kept sniffing and scratching on the grate of a drainage ditch. ✅Advice of pet rescuers: put out articles of your dirty clothes that are heavy with your scent. Your cat's keen sense of smell may lead him/her back to you. 🚫Please DO NOT put out your cat's dirty litter box, because it will attract predators like coyotes and other cats.🚫 Search AND post on www.nextdoor.com as a "general post" (not as a "lost and found") and include several pictures. Nextdoor is the first place that local people post when they've lost or found a pet. When you post anywhere, PLEASE GIVE a ✅DETAILED DESCRIPTION✅ including , color, breed or breed mix, distinguishing or unique markings, so that people can find your post if they do a key word search on a website or app. Use the words CAT or Dog--not "this guy," kitty, doggie, puppers, pups, etc. If you use such words, your post will be limited in its reach, only to those who happen to come across it. Make it easy to find through a word search. ✅ PetcoLove.org ( https://petcolove.org/lost/ ) is the best place to search for your pet and to post if you don't find him/her among those found. The site uses facial recognition technology, location, and date to try to match lost and found pet photos to each other. It cross references other sites like Nextdoor, ACS, Pawboost, etc. It will send you alerts of animals that look like yours. Other websites to search and post on: • www.PetFBI.org • www.pawboost.com • https://sanantonio.craigslist.org/search/laf • www.ring.com • Lost & Found animal groups on Facebook 🆘 ‼️Check at ACS online and in person. If someone catches your pet and takes him/her to this city shelter, then your pet has 72 hours before being placed on the euthanasia list. They are overcrowded and are euthanizing dozens of dogs and cats each day. ***ACS intake employees sometimes misidentify the of the animals and do not find microchips. So don't filter results by , animal breed, or microchip. If you see an animal who looks like yours, then PLEASE GO IN PERSON!!! There are multiple categories to check: 1) Adoptables are pets that have exceeded the stray hold. Owners need to look through them to see if their pet is there. Searching can be filtered by species, breed, and . https://www.sa.gov/Directory/Departments/ACS/Adopt/Pet-Search 2) Urgents: Capacity Euthanasia 3) Urgents: Medical 4) Pets in foster care 5) Moms with Babies https://www.sa.gov/Directory/Departments/ACS/Placement-Surrender/Urgent Again, animals that end up there are placed on the euthanasia list after 72 hours.‼️🆘 More helpful advice can be found on: https://www.lostcatfinder.com/ https://tnrtexas.com/lost-found All pet owners--PLEASE have your pets spayed/neutered. Do not allow them to breed. Almost all shelters and rescues are full. There are low cost programs to help or appeal to neighbors on NextDoor. The situation at SA's Animal Care Services (ACS) of having dozens of healthy, lost, stray, and/or abandoned pets EUTHANIZED DAILY is unacceptable, devastating, AND PREVENTABLE!!! Take responsibility. Please....

What to do if you lose your Cat 1. Search all places inside and around your house as cats can hide in small places. 2. Shake their treat bag and softly call their name. 3. Search at dusk and dawn with a flashlight as the light will pick up their eyes. Outside they tend to hide under shrubs, under porches, in open sheds & drainage ditches. You can shake their treats while looking outside too. 4. Put something with your scent on it outdoors, on a porch or deck if possible or in a garage with the door cracked. Sometimes the scent brings them home. You can also put out their litter box. 5. Post on nextdoor 6. Post on pawboost. You can download a free flyer here. 7. Make a lost pet report to all the local shelters especially in areas that have close boundaries. 8. Post on FB Lost & Found Groups 9. Post on PetFBI site and use .org as the ending. 10. If chipped, report to chip company but don’t forget to change status when your cat is found. 12. Ask your neighbors to check their garages and sheds. 13. Last you can rent a humane trap at your local shelter and set it with some tasty food. Your cat may be coming around the house late at night.
