Message from Owner

I have been so hopeful that my boy Palo will show back up. I found him as a stray back in 2022 at my mom’s hse. He was an outdoor barn kitty that lived on a massive amount of land for years - he knows the wildlife and being outdoors. We sold my mom’s hse in April of 2025. I then moved to Las Vegas and he came along with. I moved back to CA in October of 2025 due to being pregnant and wanting to be closer to family. He and his sister were acclimated correctly and once again became outdoor kitties. I gave birth in early December and unfortunately had several complications that led me back in the hosp. Since then, I have been in and out of the hosp more than a handful of times. My boyfriend would feed them twice a day as always, but the schedule was a little off - not what they were used to. There was also quite a bit of construction going on. Both kitties started to slowly show up less and less. I posted on Nextdoor several times and actually had both of them come back due to great neighbors. I tried to re-acclimate them, but with all the construction and schedule change - they soon were off again. My girl kitty adopted herself a new family (my wonderful neighbors). They came to talk to me about it - she gets to go inside - which unfortunately we cannot do. Having a newborn and being that I was back and forth to the hosp, we were okay with it. I was just happy to see her have a loving and caring home, which she definitely does. Our boy Palo on the other hand did not stay as close as she did. He liked to take off farther from the hse and explore. I’ve posted on Nextdoor several times, and have done all the things to look for him when I have not been in the hosp(unfortunately have still been back and forth). We’ve put out his food, litter, driven around looking in all the spots we think he may be, gone to the shelter several times and have been keeping an eye out for him. I know coyotes are ruthless here, but we’re hoping his knowledge of being a tough barn kitty have helped him. We want our boy home, or to even know where he is and that he is safe. I look for him daily when I am home and able to and think about him daily. I miss and love him so much. Any help is appreciated. I do apologize for the long story, we just really miss our y boy - Thank you so much.

Lost Cats‼️ Indoor only cats and limited outdoor access cats never go far. They go into survival mode and hide in silence. Most of them will not respond when they are in survival mode. 3 AM is the best time to find a missing indoor only cat. This is the time they become most active and responsive. Sit and quietly call for your kitty. Try to stay low, standing is intimidating to cats. Place some dirty socks and pillow cases outside. Your scent will attract your kitty. If you have a garage, place the items near the garage door and crack the door enough for her to get in. DO NOT leave food or litter box outside, it can attract predators and aggressive Tom cats. Because indoor only cats hide so well they are not as likely to be ed by a predator. Don't give up, it can take months to find a missing indoor only cat. Use a flashlight as late at night as you can to look in trees, under cars and in bushes. Try to look for the glow of her eyes. The best chance of you being reunited with your cat is to do a methodical search of the area. Most indoor only cats will be within 160 feet of your home. Survival mode lasts 5 to 14 days but can last longer. Once their hunger gets to a maximum they can snap out of it but this is a dangerous time because they come out of hiding. The majority of cats will try to make a break for home on the 5th night. In addition to posted flyers, make mini flyers and hand them out to your neighbors. Some people don't pay attention to posted flyers. It's VERY VERY important that you look for her as late at night as you can. If you have other cats, watch them. If they are spending a lot of time looking out a certain window, that’s a good indication the missing cat is in that area. Wildlife and motion activated cameras are also helpful. a lot of people are successful trapping their indoor only cats. If you decide to trap, you must watch the trap closely, predators can a cat in a trap.

Immediately (NOW)walk area shake treat bag or Bang on cat food can calling for your cat multiple times during the day-and-night especially when it's quiet out. Look under all bushes and in between houses. Ask your neighbors to check cameras garage, shed backyard. Post on nextdoor, get family & friends to search every day. Search at midnight-5am too call for ur kitten, listen for her meow

Sorry to hear about your lost cat. This website has fantastic tips for locating cats from a woman experienced in cat rescue as well as templates for cat flyers. Also, cat rescue of experts now advise not to put the cats litter box outside. This is because it can attract Tom cats and aggressive predators which can chase away a cat. The reason that cats cover up their waste is to cover their scent in order to protect themselves from predators. Instead, it is now advised to leave out some of your clothing with your scent on it, such as socks, a pillow case etc. wishing you all the best with locating your cat. 💕🙏💕 www.happycatlady.com
