Message from Owner

On April 22, 2026, our dog Dolly went missing from our property in Columbia County, Florida. According to information later provided to us, a Columbia County Animal Enforcement employee who lives in our neighborhood picked Dolly up during their lunch break and transported her to Columbia County Animal Enforcement. Dolly was processed through intake under the name “April” and assigned Animal ID #CCFL-A-12494. Her intake type was listed as “Stray In,” and the location was documented as SW Legion Drive in Lake City, FL. Dolly was never publicly posted online. This greatly reduced our chances in finding Dolly. The county had pictures of other dogs but for unknown reasons Dolly was never posted. The intake records also listed Dolly as “not spayed,” even though she had been spayed for years. At the time Dolly went missing, our family was unaware of Columbia County Animal Enforcement and that they housed animals separately from the Lake City Humane Society. We were only familiar with the Humane Society facility. At no point in time, did the Lake City Humane society have custody of Dolly. The Lake City Humane Society and Columbia County Animal Enforcement are no longer affiliated following the end of their contract with Columbia County. While scrolling through Facebook, we saw a post made by Columbia County, FL regarding a black Labrador Retriever. The post did not specify whether the dog was male or female, but we decided to go in person to check. That was when we learned about Columbia County Animal Enforcement and that they operated a smaller holding facility located behind the Lake City Humane Society. While there, county employees confirmed that Dolly had been housed at the facility. We were informed that Dolly had been transported out of the county on or around April 29, 2026, by ZooTrek Inc., a company based out of Pensacola, Florida. The owner of the company is Mark Douglas Eddins, also known as Doug Eddins. This company picks up and transports dogs to other shelters, rescues, organizations in Florida and other states in the United States. We strongly believe Dolly remained in Florida but we have also been searching outside of Florida incase she was transported out of the state. Mark Douglas Eddins is reportedly affiliated with Emerald Shores Humane Society Inc., based out of Pensacola, Florida, as well as American Animal Cruelty Investigations School LLC and the Florida Animal Control Training Commission. After learning this information, we contacted Mr. Eddins directly seeking information regarding Dolly. Unfortunately, we were unable to obtain details regarding her whereabouts or current status. Since then, our family has been desperately searching for Dolly. We have contacted shelters, rescues, and organizations across Florida asking whether they work with ZooTrek Inc. and whether they may have seen or received a dog matching Dolly’s description. We have also continued posting about Dolly on Facebook in hopes of bringing awareness to her story. We are aware of publicly discussed concerns involving ZooTrek Inc. and Alachua County Animal Resources that reportedly resulted in the county discontinuing use of ZooTrek Inc. transport services. We encourage anyone interested to research publicly available information regarding those matters. At this time, our family’s goal is to locate Dolly, bring awareness to her story and make sure this does not happen again to other pet owners. If anyone has information regarding Dolly, ZooTrek Inc., rescues that may work with them, or possible information regarding Dolly’s placement or adoption, please contact Dolly’s owners. We also have a Facebook page called “Bring Dolly Home” where supporters can follow updates and help spread awareness. Our family is willing to pay any necessary fees to bring Dolly home. We currently have a $1,200 reward for Dolly being safely reunited with our family. Dolly meant the world to us. We have young children who miss her deeply and are devastated by her disappearance. Additional photos and updates can be found on the “Bring Dolly Home” Facebook page. Dolly is a 7-year-old female black Labrador Retriever. Our family has had her since she was 8 weeks old. She is very friendly towards other dogs, cats, chickens, children and adults. We also have an active petition on titled: “Demand Transparency and Reform for All Animal Services and Operations in Columbia County.” Thank you for taking the time to read Dolly’s story. Please consider sharing this post to help bring awareness and hopefully help bring Dolly home. #BringDollyHome
