Leave a reentry door open if you can. Leave a scent trail of his clothes, a cat bed and maybe some smelly food like tuna. He’s likely close by and more likely to return when it’s dark and quiet outside. Indoor kitties usually stay close to home. Put something with your scent on it (unwashed clothes) outside. If you have any other cats or put something with there scent on it too. Check under your porch if you have one. Check under grills, sheds, in garages, sheds, bats. The cat could have gotten stuck in a neighbors shed. Check yours as well as. Go door to door and ask if anyone has seen her, even put flyers at peoples doors. If you have a sighting, set a trap with worn piece of your clothing and some food.Also look around at night under bushes and in shrubs with a bright flashlight. It may catch on the kitties eyes. Looking at night when it’s quieter is better. If he went out the door or a window, leave it open might just come in on his own. You could also get a camera. Leave a window or door cracked open with food inside the house by that opening. They usually go to the same opening they escaped from.

They usually don’t venture far. It’s probably scared & hiding near by in bushes or an open garage. Most kitties will stay put in their safe hiding spot. ( if they’re not fixed they can wonder further, depends on circumstances) Ask neighbors to check their sheds, decks, garages. They usually venture out at night after 24-48hrs when they start getting hungry. The “witching” hour when they come out is 3am. If you see your pet, don’t try to grab it, it’s still on survival mode and will run. Just sit down maybe with some treats and let your pet come to you. (Remember, never put the litterbox outside. Other cats will mark it & scare your cat away. Just in case, also set some humane traps near by, hide them in the bushes where your pet might hide. Good luck & don’t lose hope. Pray to St Anthony, he hasn’t let me down. 🙏🏻🐾

Tips for finding a lost cat * Leaving out litter boxes, food and treats may attract other neighborhood cats who may bully your cat and not allow them to return home * Leave out some dirty laundry, or a hamper, the cats favorite blanket * Get a humane cat trap and leave some of your laundry in there (not a good idea to leave food in there bc you may trap another cat. Also dont leave the trap unattended, unless it’s on your property. Leaving the traps against a wall or fence helps, cats like to walk alongside things) * Leave some of their toys or cat beds outside * Leave the door or window they escaped from open * Cats typically travel back at night time. * Is there a smell they associate with you? Our cat returned after smelling the weed smoke (we smoked outside) * Leave the windows open a crack, just in case you hear meowing * Walk around the neighborhood, with a cat carrier, can of food and toy (call their name. And even if you dont find them your scent around the neighboorhood helps) * Sit outside at night and call your cats name * Look under bushes, sheds, patios, car hoods. * Knock on neighboors doors ask to check their backyard or ask them to check * Hang fliers all over the neighboorhood. (Write the phone number big, call or text, please do not chase, spot last seen, and description of cat, get printed in color) * Call local vets and shelters to see if brought it * Shaking treats may be counterproductive and may startle them * Put a camera outside that tracks motion (if possible) * Indoor cats typically wont go further than 3-5, at most 10 houses * When you see your cat again, whether it walks inside your home or you see your cat in your yard, or on a neighbors property, be COOL. Do not scream in excitement. Sit down. Let them come to you. Lure them into the carrier with food and zip it up. Do not try to grab them, this may only startle them to run again * Look in trees as well Good luck, I hope you find your fur baby
