I am so sorry about your Kitty being lost. Put the Owner's worn clothes outside all around the house or the area where the Kitty was lost Kitties don't go far, but they do hide a lot. When it is quiet and darker, go out and shake her food bowl and treat bag and hopefully she will hear it and come out. Talk quietly to her like you would if she was inside - yelling can scare them, though this is what we want to do because we want them HOME!! Knock on doors. Someone may have taken your Kitty in so she/he doesn't get hurt. Also ck with your Neighbors and ck their storage areas, sheds, etc. I know of a Kitty who was found in a storage room that had only been open for 5 mins. Put out flyers everywhere - stores, intersections, etc., and put the info on your car windows so that it gets the info out to more people. Use multiple actions to find your Pet...using only one may limit your success in getting your Kitty Home.

Please check nearby storm drains and sewer pipes, vehicle engines and tire wells, plus attics and bats, garages and sheds, shrubs and bushes, and under buildings and porches. Good luck.

These tips have helped get several neighbour's cats back. I saw the picture on a post a year or more ago. Also, if you have security cameras or can get some, or ask your neighbours, make sure the cameras are set to all motion and aimed at the ground where you have some enticing food. You might have to adjust sensitivity and block spaces you don't want motion picked up. If you don't have security cameras, you can get a Wi-Fi trail camera from Walmart. Easy set up, but might have to pay a small monthly fee. It will connect to strongest Wi-Fi signal with no needed password. So you can use it anywhere as long as Wi-Fi is in the area. This will allow you to check when your kitty might be stopping by to eat the tastyfood you have set out. That helps if you have to set a trap to know what time to put the trap out. You can buy a trap online, at a home improvement store, or reach out to a shelter to sign one out, if available. When you set up the trap to catch your cat, do not leave it unattended. You want to be close by. The cat will be scared and could hurt themselves or something else could hurt the cat in the trap if left unattended. You want to be close to cover the trap with a towel or blanket to help calm them. When setting up the trap, either put a towel over the sides except where the cat enters, or put it on as soon as the cat is inside. You can try covering half as well and then when the cat is trapped cover the rest. Might need to try different ways. Put food in the trap in a sort of 'T' like formation. In the front, put a little bit of food to coax them in then put another back a little further, around the trip plate, and a long line at the back to make sure they go all the way in and trip the cage to close. It is usually best to put some news paper/cardboard as a liner on the bottom of the trap to keep the food from falling through the cracks and help the cat's feet to not get pinched in the wire of the trap. DO NOT place the litterbox outside, your friendly cat might not be the only animal it lures. You want your kitty safe when it comes back not attacked by a predator. It is better to put something that smells of you out. Also check for enclosures your kitty may have gotten trapped in such as garages, old chicken coops, crawl space, ect. If you have not already, make fliers and put in mail boxes, at local vets, animal shelters, etc.. Pawboost has a flier you can print.

These are general search tips and not all may apply in your situation. Search at night w/ a flashlight (eyes will glow). Check up in trees and inside/under things in your yard and up to 4 - 5 houses away. Search garages, sheds, under decks and bushes, in crawl spaces, behind AC units - any place the cat might be trapped or hiding. Many cats go into hiding mode for safety and won't come when they hear their owner's voice but try calling and try either shaking a can/bag of treats or carrying an open (smelly) can of cat food or fish. Put something w/ the cat's scent on the porch (cat bed, scratching post, sofa pillows). Keep your garage door up enough to allow entry. Keep fresh bowls of water out. Put up large missing cat posters (neon poster board works well), talk to neighbors (leave info for those not home), post on all local social media groups and make sure to check with local animal control at least once a week (better to go in person but at least call and send them a photo). If not found at night with a flashlight, go out during early morning, before dawn, as many cats are active around that time. If not found in a few days, you can always buy a humane cat trap but traps *must* be checked multiple times each day, every day. If the cat is microchipped, please make sure the chip company has your updated contact information. And even if the cat has a chip, you still need to check with animal control as chips sometimes are overlooked or migrate down. Please search often and don't give up hope.
