Put articles of clothing and shoes on the porch Spread some used litter around the house and yard area Look for her late at night and early in the morning when it is dark and quiet Use a flashlight to see her eyes Probably close by and hiding Keep calling kitty kitty calls and meow sounds Don't give up

She’s so beautiful. You have to do a lot of things right away. I can give you a list here. But don’t wait. She is very, very scared outside and hopefully she’s still hiding nearby. Coyotes come into many neighborhoods at night here, hunting for cats and other small animals. They are her greatest threat. Post Lucy on Nextdoor, the neighborhood app. Many of your neighbors will see her here. Cats don’t usually wander more than 4 or 5 houses away. Print flyers and leave them at your neighbors front door 5 to 6 houses in all directions. Ask them to check their crawlspaces, sheds, garages, and under porches. Check all storm drains near you. First of all, get outside several times a day and call her softly. Walk all your yard and up and down your street 4 to 5 houses away. Do this 5 or 6 times a day. Lucy needs to hear your Voice!! Go out at dawn and at dusk when it is still somewhat dark. Take a flashlight. Walk all around your yard softly calling her name. Shine the light around bushes. She is more likely to come out of hiding when it’s getting dark, like around DAWN & DUSK. WALK all over the place so you can see her eyes shining in the flashlight beam. Cats hide in silence, and won’t come out until they’re hungry or when it’s very quiet and mostly dark. Scatter some of your unwashed clothes around your yard, like dirty socks or tops, so she can smell your scent and this will lead her home. Cats can smell scents from a mile away. Leave a WINDOW OPEN during the day where she cat can jump inside the house. This often works! 💕💕👍🏼🐈‍⬛🐈 Leave your Garage Door cracked OPEN about 6 inches day and night, so she can get inside the garage and feel safe. ONLY in daylight, put her USED litter box in your backyard, she will smell it. Cats have an incredible sense of smell. Please DON’T leave her litter box outside at night, it will attract predators like coyotes!! You can put out a humane trap with her favorite wet food in it ONLY DURING THE DAY, at the place where your cat was last seen. NEVER LEAVE A TRAP OUTSIDE IN THE DARK! COYOTES CAN RIP IT OPEN! Be sure to cover the top and sides of the trap with a towel, and leave the front and back open so the wet food smell can escape. The towel makes the cat feel hidden and less anxious. You MUST keep an eye on the trap every hour. NEVER leave a cat in a trap more than a few minutes. They are vulnerable to other animals and they are very scared in a trap. Coyotes can reach inside a trap and a cat! And they can rip a metal trap open because they are very, very strong! You have to GO SEARCHING for Lucy, don’t expect her to come home on her own. Sorry I thought your cat was a girl. It’s the same advice for either .
