Dog expert to search for lost dogs always say to use a dog whistle to call the dog instead of the dog's name because now the dog is in trauma and will not answer to its own name. I told someone this and they found their chihuahua in a cut cornfield at 2:00 a.m. in the morning. They've been out there numerous times daily and even in the evening calling its name but once they use the whistle it whimpered and they followed the whimpering till they found the sweet little pup and took it home
