Definitely leave doors and garage doors cracked open as they will try to get back in.. ! Put his kibble or favorite treats inside the doors. Be home..do this in the dark hours , late night.

As a trapper please try the following ASAP! Do NOT leave trap unattended in this cold! Trap will freeze and kitty will too. Watch from window or camera. Set humane trap cage ASAP. Indoor cats don't go far. Check under porches, sheds and anywhere they can hide. Talk to neighbors also. Call shelters, humane society and kennels to see if someone dropped them off. Go look yourself too, don't just go by what they say.. they are busy too.. go out at night when it's quiet and no noise, as they are scared. Only you go, not a bunch of people. Take a bag of treats with you. Also, leave a door cracked and garage door cracked open with food inside.. just keep an eye on it, this way they can run into your house when coming home. They usually go to the door where they got out at. Put up cameras if you can. You can buy humane traps at home Depot, Lowes or there's many shelters that will lend you one. Post on all animal sites. Make sure he didn't get locked in someone's garage or shed. Set up a camera or ask neighbors if they can review their cameras.

My young cat snuck out late. I called him and put out a trap, but he didn't come. In the morning, I went out and made cat sounds like he does because he doesn't meow. I then heard him respond and found him hunkered down beside the air conditioner. He must have been very scared all night. He was only about 20-25 feet from my back door. I copied the following messages from other people giving advice on finding lost cats. If Indoor Fixed Kitties: Indoor fixed kitties rarely go far and are usually found hiding scared nearby. Look under everything...porches, decks, sheds, cars, bushes, etc. Look at night and into the wee hours of the morning with a flashlight to see eyes glowing. Ask/tell neighbors. Flyers = sightings. Consider using a humane trap ASAP. Please no litter box outside because it can attract predators and potentially keep your kitty from returning. Prayers for a safe return. If you're able you can also try leaving a door, garage door or window cracked open to let kitty come back in. A video doorbell or trail camera can be helpful to see if kitty is coming around when you're sleeping. Honestly - the magic time is 11pm-6am in spring/summer (8pm-6am in fall/winter) - when no humans are outside. That is when they feel comfortable coming out of hiding. Sit on steps/porch by where cat escaped - talk softly. Let cat come to you. Avoid eye contact. Lost pets will not act "normally" - they are in survival mode. My young cat snuck out late.
