Description

This is a large, black cat, presumably male (based on size). His eyes are not quite symmetric, his left being a bit smaller/closed.

Message from Finder

He has been in the neighborhood for quite awhile. He is clearly lonely and sad: he wanders and cries a lot, seems to be looking for his family. He is being fed with a group of other feral cats, though he has not been accepted by them. He will maintain eye contact for quite awhile but will not let me approach. I wish he could find his family!

FOSTERING FOUND KITTY - Creating a Safe Haven 😻When you rescue a cat from the street, you are often their last hope for survival. Because many cats brought to shelters never leave, fostering them in your home is the greatest gift you can give while searching for their guardian or a new forever home. 😻The Bathroom: The Perfect Starting Point Don’t worry if your bathroom is tiny; cats actually prefer small, contained spaces when they are overwhelmed by a new environment. Keeping kitty in the bathroom ensures they are safe, easy to monitor, and away from the stresses of the rest of the house. 😻Setting Up the "Bedroom" Inside the bathroom, provide a litter box, food, and water. For their bed, a covered hard carrier is the most ideal setup. 😻The Setup: Place a soft blanket inside the carrier and d another blanket over the top, leaving only the front opening clear. 😻The Strategy: By making the carrier the only "hiding spot" in the room, the cat will learn to view it as their safe zone. This makes it much easier to transport them to the vet for a microchip scan or to their new home later on—they’ll already be comfortable inside! 😻Acclimation and Trust: I always keep new rescues in the bathroom for at least a few weeks until they are fully acclimated and ready to explore. Even spending just 30 minutes a day with them makes a world of difference. It helps them feel safe, allows you to get to know their personality, and ensures they are ready for the next chapter of their life. 😻 Thank you for opening your heart and home to a cat in need. You are changing a life that someone else may have failed. ❤️.❤️

Thank you for feeding this sweet kitty. You can trap kitty if too shy. I've trapped many shy cats outside and once they've acclimated inside for a few weeks they start trust and become their loving adorable kitty selves and become adoptable - some take longer to become trusting - clearly this kitty is just scared. Feral cats do not meow at humans. This cat is domesticated. I would suggest renting or borrowing a 36" humane trap and humanely trapping kitty (you must watch the trap every second to ensure only he goes into the trap then cover the whole trap with a sheet or blanket to calm him down) They are initially very scared. I release a new cat into my bathroom - it's safe and contained - and already have a hard carrier in there covered with a blanket with door open and blanket inside - that is where kitty will hide and hide until they feel safe to come out. on trap night place food and water and that carrier and a litter box in there and that's all you need to start. You can then easily get kitty to any vet to get scaanned for a microchip once in your bathroom because they will hide in the carrier every time you enter the bathroom . if you find out kitty has no chip then kitty may need to be fixed . If kitty isn't fixed …. the biggest gift you could give is to get kitty fixed❤️ 🙏 to prevent endless kittens being born outside to suffer and struggle and to prevent him from getting into horrible territorial fights that are often lethal . Thank you for being part of the solution..so many need our help...we do our best one kitty at a time. ❤️ damia LOW COST SPAY AND NEUTER: OAKLAND --> https://icraeastbay.org/resources/local-resources/spayneuter/ 💥💥BEFORE TRAPPING: MUST-WATCH HOW-TO VIDEO Trapper Tips and Tricks!
