Karen Elizabeth also thank you for the encouragement he is not the first cat I have had sneak out in this neighborhood the other his older brother so to speak vanished last August but it was a few days before id put together what happened and in the end he was never found no trace not even a collar and he didn't even have the advantage of being g outside on a leash for a while id thought hed gotten lost in the vents for the house because he liked to pull the registers eventually i screwed everyone down i could but i had to rooms with tile floors but simply nothing. I did let the good folks at goodwill who know us be aware he was missing also because someone asked as soon as she saw me how the kitties were

Karen Elizabeth in my yard the only place he could hide is the wood piles and bbq i have no trees or bushes nor do the direct neighbors on one side the other have a great tree kitties could hide in but also 5 large dogs but yeah I have walked the entire block and between yards where possible when not fenced im still waiting for aomeone to call the cops on the creeper with the flashlight(me). He has walked some of the area the 2 houses directly to right and left in front on a harness and leash so I thought thats would help him find his way home. Unfortunately it has rained and my yard was mown

KaiVala Jenva, you’re doing everything right. Amore is hiding closer than you think! Make sure to keep looking in YOUR YARD at night with a flashlight. He is very scared and hiding very close… most likely in YOUR OWN YARD. Amore will stay hiding and not want to be seen by anyone or anything. Look up in the trees and UNDER EVERYTHING and inside any small openings. You'd be surprised at what tiny openings they can squeeze into and under. Before I knew about all these tips I posted above… my cat was missing for 2 weeks until I finally found her. She was too scared to respond to my calls and I realized she was not coming back on her own, so I knew I had to go out and physically look for her. I wasted most of those days looking around my neighborhood instead of MY OWN YARD!!! The way I found her was with a flashlight at night. She had been hiding under my shed the entire time. I looked under that shed TWICE during the daytime and could not see her. The third time I looked was at night with a flashlight and there were her eyes glowing back at me! Amore is really scared and has found a good hiding spot very close to where he escaped. He is so close… he’s probably watching you, but is too scared to come out or respond to your calls.

Karen Elizabeth yes I was out searching with a flashlight every night when I was able and also early in the am because of the heat and humidity it limits a bit what time I could spend daylight anyway so I became a night creature unfortunately the only cat I jave seen and apparently fed wasnt him several days I put out his smelly wet food its been over a week now

Amore is probably scared and hiding and you will need to go out at NIGHT with a flashlight and look for his “glowing” eyes. He is VERY CLOSE to your house… most likely in YOUR OWN YARD. They usually find a hiding spot very quickly and very close to where they escaped. Look up in the trees and check under everything in YOUR YARD first… under decks, under sheds, inside bushes, wood piles and storm drains. Then check your neighbors yards. They are very good at hiding. THE BEST TIME TO FIND HIM IS AT NIGHT WITH A FLASHLIGHT AND HIS EYES WILL “GLOW” BACK AT YOU. Amore is so scared, he will NOT respond to you calling him, so you'll have to use your eyes instead of your ears to find him. When cats are suddenly outside, they go into "survival mode" and their entire personality changes. They will NOT wander. They find a hiding spot very close by and are very scared and will not come out for anyone... even their owners. I hope you find your fur-baby very soon!

If normally an indoor cat, then kitty is likely hiding real close to home. They tend to freeze in place and may not come out if you call their name. They are masters at hiding and squeezing into small spaces. Use a flashlight to look in, under, behind all dark spaces so that their eyes glow. You can do this during the day, but especially at night when things are quieter. Check inside the house as well just in case (dresser drawers, up inside mattress box spring, recliner, sofa, etc). Look up in trees and other high spots in case kitty climbed up to escape another animal. Do NOT put litter box or bedding outside as that can attract other animals/predators. Put some of your dirty laundry/worn clothing outside for the scent. Leave a door cracked open so kitty can get back inside. Set up trail cameras outside and use a humane trap that you can buy at a hardware store or borrow from a rescue. Ask neighbors to check garages and sheds. Hang LOST signs in your area. Post on Nextdoor app, Ring app, Pawboost, area facebook pages, and lost and found facebook pages. Make sure microchip information is accurate. Check local animal shelters in person. Check the 24petconnect website via zip code for intakes. Be careful of scammers contacting you about drone services, pet tracking or stories that your pet is at the vet and money is needed.
