Serina Johnson Yes, that is exactly what I said. I guess I should have put "NOT" in capital letters, but people get mad when I tell them that. The litter myth has spread like wildfire on the internet. I usually just mention coyotes, but it also attracts stray territorial tomcats that can chase a housecat away.

Rebekah McConnell Wallace so you just moved from Kentucky? 😱 I'm not sure why you haven't had him neutered yet, male cats can reach s3xual maturity by 6 months of age 😞 An unneutered tomcat will travel up to 5 miles for a female in heat. In South Carolina, mating season is pretty much year round 😞 If you haven't already, put up flyers everywhere as many people aren't on social media. Since he's not microchipped, give flyers to every vet clinic, rescue, and shelter in a 60 mile radius in case he turns up. Since he's not neutered, ask all of them about any local TNR groups and community cat feeders, and give them flyers too, in case he turns up at a colony somewhere. Ask your neighbors to check their cameras, garages, sheds, and crawlspaces. Look up in trees in case he was chased coming home. Walk the entire neighborhood (and beyond) in the wee hours with a flashlight and look for glowing eyes. Call him in a regular voice (not panicked) and gently shake a treat bag if he likes that kind of stuff. If he's injured or scared, he's probably hunkered down and hiding. He may not answer you when you call, but that's just instinctual, as a vocal cat gives away their location to predators and an injured cat is prey. Put his beds/blankets and some of your dirty clothes on your porches and around the perimeter of your yard. When he comes home, please keep him inside and get him neutered and microchipped ASAP. Be sure to register the chip online. You might consider building or buying a catio (some people have bought pre-made chicken coops and "attached" them to their houses with kitty access through a window); or, if your yard is fenced in, consider putting up cat-fencing or coyote rollers on top of the fence to keep him safely in your yard (both can be DIY). There are coyotes all over the state, even in downtown Columbia 😞 Good luck ❤️

Set a trap and put some of your worn clothing, his bedding, and some smelly food in it. He's probably hiding during the day and coming out at night.

Rebekah McConnell Wallace how old is he, and how long have you been at your new place? Also, how far away is your old place?
