Check with people who feed strays they may have seen your baby around. I noticed that there are a lot of cats missing lately. If there's an area near you that has mice, start there. Mice are active right now. Cats usually don't go very far. Have neighbors check sheds, garages, anyplace small that they can crawl into. The best times to look are from dusk to dawn. Believe it or not. Putting an empty cardboard box out where you saw him/her go might lure him/her out. If your cat's into boxes anyway. Not the cat box. An empty box. Some of this info might help. Go to shelters in person. Our neighbors witnessed my pet being picked up by them here. Five days, they told us he wasn't there. We found him in their clinic. Check there, too. They might try to say no. Be insistent. If your pet is missing, you should also check re-homing and for sale pages, including Marketplace and local newspapers, rescues, and Craigs-list. Many times, people get the gender of the pet wrong. Please always check in person. Please make all your posts Public. If chipped, then contact your chip company. Make sure the information is current and report the pet missing. If you decide to use Paw boost, check your emails daily, especially if your pet is lost for a long time. And please add a phone number. Pets have been found and not able to return home because all that is found of old posts is Paw boost with no information and emails are being ignored. 😥 One of the most important things you can do is file missing reports with police, Humane Society, Shelters, and your chip company. Without a police report, your pet could end up legally adopted out to someone else. Do that immediately. Please click the three dots upper right and edit to add the closest cross streets, city, state, and date of disappearance if that information isn't already there. It can be shared to Truckers, traveling through there. The city and state especially are very important for those of us who do Google and FB searches for pets. If the owner walks around too far, then their scent can confuse the pet. It's best for the owner to stay close to one area and have others walk a larger area. Favorite squeaky toy might help, but use it sparingly. It might also attract other dogs, so be careful. 💝🌹👍 Please do not leave food and a cat box outside. It can attract other cats and predators that block your pet from coming home. If you do put food out, make certain you are close by, and bring it in at night. Cat boxes have been known to attract every stray in the area, including dogs. It is also a good idea to speak to people in the neighborhood who feed strays. Your cat may be among them and possibly be inside the house. No, I'm not suggesting theft. It's possible that it it was having problems with the actual strays and brought inside to keep it away from the others. Owners look for their pets at local Shelters and Humane Society if you haven't already. Please call them to let them know you have the pet. Also, pet shops, groomers, and vets might recognize them. So might the mail carrier. You should contact them as well. Fliers could help and so could knocking on doors. A vet will scan for chip for free. If you see your pet, don't chase her/him. then sit down quietly, don't look at him, just watch him with corner of your eyes. Make sure to bring a box/bag of treats and a can of wet food. Sit down on the ground. Open the wet food when he/she's within hearing distance and lay it down in front of you on the ground. Favorite toy. Bring it. Make sure he sees it, but if it squeaks, don't squeak it often. Once or twice, then lay it down in front of you. Just to grab attention so they see you. Smelly food like a rotisserie chicken might work better, and YouTube has videos of the sound of a food can opening. You can use that instead. Don't make any suddenly moves. It might scare him. Check Craigs-list. The Ring app is really good, too! 👍 A quick way to check groups is to click on the pictures link on the homepage. It can save time. 😁👍 Do not answer messages offering a code. Especially don't go to i n s t a or other sites, and research area codes of people who want you to call them. These are generally s c a m s. Good luck!!!! 🍀🍀🍀🍀

Put out food, water, and some of YOUR dirty clothes (dirty socks are nice and stinky)/blankets (dry in dryer first to enhance smell). because of the weather, you might want to put out a plastic tub with the blankets for shelter. Go out every morning and evening walking (folks seem successful around 10:30 p.m., but don't go alone) with food/treats in bowl rattling it, calling your cats name. Do NOT give up. There was a cat a week or so ago, they went out every night for 5 nights, finally on the 5th night, they heard it's meow, it was trapped in a neigbors shed. Another was hiding in a tree from the neighbor's dogs. Check buildings, bushes, trees, and storm drains around your house. Also in the house/garage, keep all doors/closets open in case it's hiding in the house. Put neon Lost Cats signs all over your neighborhood, give to vets, and the shelter. Also have magnets made of your lost cat sign and stick on your car. Contact the chip company if chipped. Post to Lost Cats facebook page, petfbi.org, nextdoor.com, and pawboost.com (ignore cost, do not put in credit card info, its free)

Callie Hall here are some excellent recommendations to use to help find your cat. IMMEDIATELY PLEASE! IF YOU HAVE LOST OR FOUND A PET, SOCIAL MEDIA IMPORTANT FOR REUNIFICATION. These can be used for any area (but it is customized for Irving.) 1. If found, go to any 24-hr vet and ask them to check for a chip. Free to do! 2. If your pet is lost, call your chip company to report. Be sure your contact info is current with them. 3. THEN—either lost or found, go down all these lost/found pages—way, way down to see if there is a post; DO DAILY as pets can reported as late as several months. 4. IMPORTANT—If you are not on FACEBOOK, either get on or find a friend who is: there are pages for every area such as these for Irving: a) Lost Dogs and Cats in Irving and b) ALL PETS Lost and Found Dogs and Cats too in Irving. 5. Post on Nextdoor, Pawboost and Ring and Pet911.org and Petcolovelost.com 6. VERY IMPORTANT. Go on your local shelter's website. Find lost/found pets pictures; check DAILY--as it may take days or weeks for your pet to be taken there. (For Irving, go to cityofirving.org/3265/animal-services; go down to bi-line; click on Lost and found.) 7. Dogs travel FAR (you would be surprised), so also check all surrounding city shelters and Facebook pages. Sometimes folks pick them up at one location; then leave them at another (heartbreaking). 8. Go to your local shelter IN PERSON as often as possible (Irving shelter at 4140 Valley View) if you can’t get there, go through the pages as mentioned on # 6 above DAILY. 9. If you are looking for your cat, be SURE your cross streets near you are indicated and the city because they often don’t travel very far— and your neighbors can be on the lookout. Put out dirty clothes on your porches. NOT THE LITTERBOX! Talk to your neighbors with your voice and ask for their help to look. Make paper flyers for neighbors with your cats photo and your contact info and ask them to check their garages and storage sheds in case the cat got trapped. 10. LASTLY, fastest way to connect to your pet is to leave your phone number because it is EASY to get lost on all these pages; but always BEWARE OF SCAMMERS. Never give money before having your pet back in your arms; demand pictures of them with your animal. Always meet in a very public place to get your pet WITH ANOTHER person. 11.
