Had animal control pick him up and take him to the Henderson County Animal Shelter ( near the dump). He was running around near several busy roads and I couldn't take him with me as I had my two dogs in the car and my toddler.

Their stray hold is 72 hours yes, but if the dog is nice and friendly then it will be put up for adoption if no owner claims the pup first.

If the owner of the dog had it chipped or wearing an ID tag it would have been home instead of going to the shelter. What is so difficult about keeping a pet safe? Plus the fact that it was wandering around unattended. There are just too many irresponsible pet owners who don't care about their pets safety. That's why the shelters are full.
