Please let us know if you have seen our cat,Sparky. He is a tuxedo and he is very sweet, but tends to be skittish around anyone he doesn’t know. He does not have a loud “voice” so you may not hear him. We last saw him Thursday @ 12:30am, and he stays mostly around his yard. We are hoping our neighbors will check anywhere in their yards where a cat would hide. Please call or text us if you see him; he is family and we miss him terribly. or

Ellen Benton Thanks for your informative response. Sparky is an indoor/outdoor cat. He rarely goes outside of our yard but is on familiar ground within a 5 house range. We’ve talked to all the neighbors on our block and checked all garages and sheds. Today, I’m working on a scent path from the outskirts of our block and handing out flyers on the adjacent 3 blocks. Any and all suggestions are welcomed and super appreciated. Thanks again!

Lisa O DePriest the scent trail is especially useful for inside cats that accidentally get outside. Put familiar items such as dirty laundry outside to help lure her back home. Cats have an excellent sense of smell and can recognize scents from a long distance. Also give flyers with her picture to neighbors and ask them to check their sheds and garages and outside cameras.

Is Sparky neutered or chipped? Indoor only or outdoor also? Ellen has listed some hints below. Place your worn laundry, sheets, blankets, shoes, and Sparky's blanket on your porch or patio or top of the shrubs around your house. Leave the large garage door cracked up enough for him to get in. Leave some clothing in there too. Late tonight after the noise is settled (9-10pm) go outside with a flashlight. Walk your neighborhood and look under shrubs, under cars, up in trees in case he was chased. Call Sparky softly and continuously every few minutes for about an hour. Some people carry cat food to lure them. You can also sit on your porch or outside singing and call him softly. Many cats come home 2-4 am. They get spooked and hide and usually not far from their home - 3-4 houses. Don't put out a litter box if he uses one. It attracts other cats and dog and then you have predators also. Good Luck tonight. It may take several nights to lure him. I'll be praying he comes home soon. 😽

Mack McClintock How does the scent trail work, exactly? We are so upset that we have not found him…he has not missed breakfast in 15 years!

Sparky is beautiful. Unique marking on his nose and face. Have you tried the scent trail to lure him home?
