Diana EllisDiana Ellis she does occasionally go outside, but only right in the backyard with us. She is pretty skittish and its not like her to ever roam. She slipped out of the backdoor during the night. I left my gate open and some of her stuff outside. There is brand new construction that started across the street the day before she went missing, so I don't know if that may have scared her. I'm also worried that someone may have saw her and thought they were rescuing a kitten, because she is very small.

Kelsea Johnson, Tiny looks like a cute brown tabby cat -- I'm sorry she's lost. She appears to be pictured outdoors -- does that mean Tiny is allowed to roam freely or did she escape a fence, enclosure, or the house? Her familiarity with the environment will dictate how to find her. Escaped indoor cats usually hide close by but are too frightened to return or respond when called; while a cat that knows her way around may have become stuck somewhere and needs help getting home. I have recovered many lost cats and assisted others so if you tell me about Tiny I can provide complete instructions that may help. Please understand if you do just the right things an escaped cat may emerge when it's dark and quiet to sneak back inside. This usually happens within the first few nights so until I hear back from you please implement this strategy if Tiny got out accidentally: tonight crack open the fence gate or enclosure door (if applicable) and place tempting food at the door leading into the house, otherwise put something small but comforting and familiar outside the door where she escaped (blanket or worn teeshirt laid flat -- not a litter box, bed, trap, or anything conuous) along with some food. Call her softly to provide a familiar sound and direction (she won't come on command) then watch from inside (DO NOT GO BACK OUTSIDE OVERNIGHT!) and if you see Tiny approach and settle on the food be careful not to startle her. Slowly and quietly provide a clear path inside and she may put an end to the crisis herself. If you can't wait up set an alarm and watch again just before sunrise -- it's a popular time. Also, although some will suggest putting out kitty's litter box, experts say DON’T DO IT. I've never used one in all the times I've been successful recovering a lost cat. You can purchase a trap from Tractor Supply or Home Depot or Amazon or see if you can borrow or rent one from a local rescue or TNR group. Put a piece of your clothing with your scent on it inside and some wet food and set the trap and cover it with a towel (they feel more secure hidden) and monitor it in the morning🙏❣️ remember kitties are naturally nocturnal, so they will hide during the day and move at night time looking for a food source or trying to get home. This is when most of us are sleeping.That's why the trap is ideal. Monitor it early in the morning. If you catch a critter go ahead and release it and wash the trap and reset. They leave a smell behind which may deter your baby from going in. If you catch another kitty, you can always take it to a local vet or shelter for a free chip check and you might be able to help return someone else's missing baby home.♥️
