a medium-to-large, short-haired dog with a lean, athletic build. It has a light tan or fawn-colored coat with a darker (almost black) muzzle. Based on those features, it could be a mix involving breeds like an Anatolian Shepherd Dog, Belgian Malinois, or possibly a Labrador Retriever mix.

Today I saw a stray dog at Santa Monica High School (Samohi), near Pico & 7th Street. He was hiding in the bushes in a quieter area and seemed very scared. He had a chain collar on. I’m not local — my daughter had a soccer game there — but I alerted school security. When we tried to approach him, he ran off and we couldn’t catch him since the campus is so big. Security tried calling animal control, but they were closed, so they contacted the fire department. I’m not sure where the dog is now, but posting in case someone is looking for him.
