Description

Nerd is a grey tabby male, neutered, but not chipped, or he may be chipped, but I haven’t registered it. I can’t remember. He was originally with a litter I rescued that I was trying to get rid of and ended up staying with me. he’s a very sweet boy. Very petite inside cat with the occasional dart like he’s done this time. dogs were being let out to use the bathroom and he darted right out before they could even get out. He’s done this a time or two before and always came back within a few days. He has to eat a special diet due to blockage in his urethra from eating regular kibble. worst case scenario is somebody has him in their hse because it was very cold last week and is feeding him regular cat food which will intern block him up and he will die unfortunately. If anybody has him, please contact me we miss our boy and I fear that he needs his diet because it happens so fast .

Message from Owner

We love and miss our Nerdy boi so much. If anyone has seen him please reach out. he needs his special diet so he doesn’t get crystal blockage.

Searching at night with a flashlight and calling her name in your normal voice, not yelling it out, is good. Also the eyes will glow if and when the light hits them. Leave out some personal clothing with your or her scent on it. Hope your baby is home inside very soon ❤️

Unlike dogs, who run when frightened, cats tend to hide quietly when scared or injured, often not meowing when called. Cats are often found close by so a physical search is often successful. Most cats are found within about 250 yards radius, indoor-only cats within about 25 yards radius. Please put out kitty’s bed, and item of your clothing/pillow case/etc with your scent. Check with neighbors with photos of your cat because sometimes they get shut in garages or sheds accidentally. In the later evening walk the neighborhood, especially with someone to chat with. Walk a few steps and then stop and listen. If you have a treat pkg that makes crinkle sound, take it with and when you stop, shake the bag or make a crinkle sound. Your cat can hear and recognize familiar sounds like your voice from a good distance and may be able to track you home. Also, call from your porch etc several times a day, while shaking treat bag and/or tapping cat food can with a fork! Check up in trees as cats often seek safety in high places. Use a flashlight at dusk/dark to look for glowing eyes; put up flyers; post to the app Nextdoor and/or Craigslist. Personally check your local shelter every couple days instead of calling, if possible. Animals are brought in constantly. Stray animals are available for adoption after a short time. Plus you know your pet best! They probably look/act differently in a shelter environment. If your pet is microchipped, please make sure your contact info is always up to date. If need be, you can update it even when your pet is missing. And still check shelters in person as microchips can sometimes fall out or travel to other parts of the animal’s body. Put a lost pet sign up in your front yard. This is in case someone finds him and drives through the neighborhood to locate his home. If you have a gate that kitty might have trouble getting back through, keep it open as often as you can until kitty returns. Praying your baby comes home soon.

Your vet should be able to tell you if he's microchipped. If he is, register the chip and tell the chip company that he's missing. If you haven't already, put up flyers everywhere as many people aren't on social media. Since he's not microchipped, give flyers to every vet clinic, rescue, and shelter in the area in case he turns up. Ask your neighbors to check their cameras, garages, sheds, and crawlspaces. Ask all of them if they had any visitors or contractors doing work on their houses around the time he went missing. If so, call the visitors and businesses and ask them if they had an accidental stowaway. Walk the neighborhood in the wee hours with a flashlight and look for glowing eyes. Look up in trees in case he was chased. Call him in a regular voice (not panicked) and gently shake a treat bag if he likes that kind of stuff. If he's injured or scared, he's probably hunkered down and hiding, and he may not answer you when you call. That's just instinctual, as a vocal cat gives away their location to predators, and an injured cat is prey. Put his beds/blankets and some of your dirty clothes on your porches and around the perimeter of your yard. When he comes home, please get him microchipped if he's not, and be sure to register the chip online. You might consider building or buying a catio (some people have bought pre-made chicken coops and "attached" them to their houses with kitty access through a window); or, if your yard is fenced in, consider putting up cat-fencing or coyote rollers on top of the fence to keep him safely in your yard (both can be DIY). Good luck ❤️
